They are sadly not as involved in the lore lately and they should be! Just look at them and imagine what powers they must behold

They are. Behind the scenes. The Brawlers campaign involves them. Namely Xan-Sallish and his master Shadreen. They are observing us. They are curious because it appears we players are not bound by fate but infact move fate itself and call us the “movers of fate”.

Sadly, their planet at the current in lore is very uninhabitable for the other races.

Well, we know how Blizzard works. It’s not said that the planet was destroyed. Just overrun by Void creatures. Zandalar was supposed to be submerged according to MoP lore, but here we are

True but by lore, their planet can’t sustain life anymore. The domes they setup didn’t stop it all, hence they look like they do now.
Of course could be changed by say, having the Void Lords leaving the planet alone.

Are the Brokers and Ethereals connected?

Most likely dead Ethereals that are in the shadowlands or Ethereals that mainly do shadowlands business.
I mean they act and look like them. So we can assume a lot of background story to it (which makes sense. We need to gather alot of info for the Void xpac down the road and so far we lack pretty much anything since all that know have been killed by us)
