We already have those monster hunter style swords that seem to have the weight of a car and a blade so wide that one could use it as a jumping plank for a swimming pool.
Would it not be nice to get something that is… more sober in terms of its looks and size (and does not have the polygon count from 2004)?
The Nathrian Crusader’s Basta Sword would almost be a normal 2h sword if not for the excessive decorations, glows and edges.
I am sure that many many players would love to add some more high polygon clean and plain weapons on their collection.
They do not have to be epic loot. They can be greys, treasures, craft-ables etc.
PS: Even the sword from the exile’s reach has too wide a blade for its length.

I play hunter and would like to be able to transmog size as an option I do not like the large size of weapons
I would like simpler armour too, a classic Knight in Shining armour look. The Overlord set is ok but very old and could use a revamped version.
Same goes for mage robes, simple sets without all the bells and whistles. A pure red set, a pure black set, a pure blue set…

Someone decided blood elf women needed larger weapons back in… I think it was early Legion? It certainly made some weapons look more appropriately sized, but holy smokes did it mess up a lot of one-handed weapons in relation to their owners.
Never was that more obvious than when I got the fire mage artifact in Legion, only to realize this supposedly one-handed sword was the size of my mage. And the years have not been kinder in that regard.

You know for a game with supposedly epic artist department, armor/weapon sets are quite bad. Both in terms of quality and quantity (true variety, not recolors).
It’s someone’s vision, im sure, the problem is he/she consumes too much magic mushrooms.
Hardly anything is truly beautiful. Most of it is gutter trash tbh.
#edit: for 13€/month…paid out for years, there should be a bazillion of high res sets in game by now.
Not by a single artist department with a demented vision and an affinity for recolors but several design lines for most slot items (historic, epic, scary, demented, pretty, wild etc etc)
I wouldn’t say weapons and armour sets are bad as such, rather, most of it is too over the top.
Simpler looking armour sets, with weapons that look like something somebody could actually use, but with high resolution textures and models, most of the simpler items come from Vanilla/BC, and the years have not been kind to those items.

Well, if they do re-make those looks, let them please make new items instead of replacing the originals. I can do without the extra pixels.

Ironically the best tmog this expansion and the one I am using currently on my warrior most of the time is the soldier green plate gear.
I like the over the top crazy gear, but sometimes normal gear has it’s own appeal you know.

I totally get that.
I would be making so many combinations of ordinary gear if it had better polygon counts
That example is quite huge and heavy, and what you call high poly count IS the extra complexity you say you don’t like.
There’s plenty of plain weapons of sane size, even smaller than what you linked. Mostly the old stuff. And I don’t find it bad in terms of appearance. That’s natural for plain weapons.
Recent sword designs suck, they can’t make good swords anymore. I’m literally stuck with a sword made in 2007 here. 16 years and still no new cool sword.

A sword is used to stab and cut. They need a sharp, straight design.
Most of the blades in the game are spiked cleavers.
WoW could definitely use more of this kind:

That’s exactly the sort of gear i’d like, detailed, but not ludicrously big and heavy.
Like those Titan-themed transmog weapons (For Valdrakken rep), those things are ridiculous, the 2H-sword from that source is a surfboard with a handle!
Blizz does seem to be doing more down-to-earth designs too recently, with the Gnoll fiend flail and such, and the “daily life”-offhands (Also for Valdrakken rep), but there’s still a lot of catching up to do with the 10+ years of only huge, unwieldy gear.

I agree. Hence why I use the Kyrian 2-hand Warhammer only. It looks fantasy but also practical. Also the rigging looks practical, because with your main hand you would be holding that Hammer at the head, not the hilt (unless you are some demi-god who doesn’t care about physic laws and body limitations).
We need more realistic, yet fantasy weapons.
I confess I didn’t really understand this thread until I just noticed it again, and went to look at the Dragonflight selection
There really is nothing in either page that I would use.
And I’d be hard put to choose anything from Shadowlands either. Maybe this two-hander: https://www.wowhead.com/item=179301/large-muck-stained-blade?bonus=6657#comments

My rogue always struggles to find daggers that actually look like daggers and not like swords or some vaguely sword shaped club… and yeah, swords that actually look like they can cut something and aren’t just used to beat someone to a pulp would be a nice change.
Over all weapons suffer from the same problems as armor does: even cloth looks like everything is made from thick rubber… give us some more delicate stuff!!!

You can play tennis with Ancient Protector’s Broadsword
They took the Broad part too far
It is more or an axe with a short handle and long blade

Personally, those Exile’s Reach weapons were a big letdown, because they look so awkwardly huge compared to your character, that you effectively can’t use them.
I like many of the decorated fantasy weapons and the art team is doing great at making those, but there really should be a few simple weapons too, and they basically undermined all the work that probably went into that sword by scaling its parts so awkwardly. It’s kinda sad, I hope they either fix its proportions or add a new one in the future that doesn’t have the scale of a bicycle.

Some of them would even have a nice design, if only they were slimmer and smaller.
