Can we level in follower dungeons?

Blizzard,

You missed a huge opportunity. People aren’t really excited about follower dungeons at level 60. They don’t really teach you how to do anything, they are slow, and they offer very little experience.

However, this would be an awesome system for lower level, LEVELING players!

Let us have the option to que for a follower dungeon at level 15. This is where we have a better chance to learn how to play a dungeon. It also offers a much faster queue as a leveling character. Instead of waiting 45 minutes for a dungeon we could use followers and just hop right in. It evens out the low population issue for leveling characters.

Will you please expand follower dungeons so we can use it right away at level 15?

Everything needs to take account how it will affect the rest of the game before it is implemented. Allowing Follower dungeons to be the absolute go-to option for levelling would mean that the current Group Finder tool for levelling content would become obsolete; no-one would use it outside of novelty.

Plus, you make a wrong assumption in your post. Follower dungeons DO teach you stuff when you do not already know them: You get to learn basic triage as a healer, you get to learn basic tanking as a tank, you get to learn basic rotation on real enemies as a damage dealer. You also learn the layout of dungeons.
They are not meant to prepare people for KSM or Mythic raiding.

Yes a huge Opportunity …

What’s next? follower Raids?

The social aspect of this MMO is totally off at the point majority of people are not even within a guild and guilds have become a place for 4-5 people with zero interaction between them .

I have more interaction with people in classic in 2 weeks while doing some low lvl dungeon that the entire retail expansion where you don’t interact with no one .

At the end followers on low lvl dungeons is bad … People would become such a bad player since hes basically play all the time by single player mode and while trying to do some dungeons / m+ with other it’s like hitting a wall.

I mean, it’s not like you talk to people in leveling dungeons. So it’s not that different from playing with bots.

Bots play better

So we should encourage “solo-play” more in a MMO game?

And no. I am not one of those people who are screaming “Socialize!” on a soap box 24/7. If somebody wants to lone-wolf play, be my guest but that shouldn’t become the “Main way” to play an MMO.

yeah…because levelinh has a meaning…in 2024.
face reality: leveling is just a necessity nowadays, without much merit as the real game or content takes place at max level.
The party finder is also just there to find and level content quickly, without any real social interaction.
It makes no difference now whether I play with real players, from whom a “Hi” comes at most and at most quickly through rushing or just bots.

actually
Blizzard works on it already.

and thow who stcuk…or suck will have to deal with the mechanics, whether this is the case with real games or bots, as they hardly differ, only with the former you will see them less often if you only rush through them and the bosses fall so quickly in normal and towards the end in heroic that it is ultimately narrow.

Oh, I didn’t mean it in a way to encourage follower dungeons for leveling. I meant to say that leveling “follower” dungeons already exist.
If you want to level solo, you can simply do quests.

Those that complain that Oh NO LFG will be empty …
Have you even tried the follower dungeons ? I tried them a few months ago and honestly they are MUHC HARDER than LFG . Mobs take forever to die , you have to watch out for boss mechanics . The npcs have no idea what a skip is and pull everything . They don’t move out of patrolling packs , so you need to clear each and every pack . The healer goes OOM . The Tank dies , so you can’t pull large packs .
They are not for leveling . They are for seeing the dungeon and the mechanics and actually playing it .

If you want power leveling you go LFG and blast everything in your path , because LFG is for braindead people . You can solo LFG , but in the follower dungeons you actually have trouble .

OP is completely right . Enable follower dungeons from 15 up for all dungeons . It is impossible to find groups some of the dungeons , if you are you just leveling in the zone and you want to do some quests . Especially if it is late in the evening .
When was the last time anyone did wailing caverns at level 20 on retail ? You sit and wait for 50 minutes for a queue to pop , only for the tank to leave at start , because "Oh no I won’t do this trash dungeon " and leaves followed by the rest of the people . And than you end up trying to solo the dungeon anyways . Problem is some mechanics are not very solo friendly at their intended levels .

This fine with me ! All them are NPC already . I ask them how are they doing , favourite zone in WOW , if they want to add friend and do more dungeon , no responder . NPC players , I prefer the real robot so I don’t raise the hopes .

Yeah, I did some follower dungeons on beta today and they are hard because the followers are so stupid.

The hunter always ninja pulls every pack.

The tank tries to line-of-sight pull some packs back to safe areas, which would be a smart move, but the other DPS engage way too early and pulls often turn into a :poop: storm. Either that, or they pull way too slowly.

I did some follower dungeons because that was a better alternative to waiting for a dungeon to pop to get some quests completed, or so I thought.

Watching Captain Garrick Avenger’s Shield some mobs and run back several yards on every pull gets old because if I so much as hit my weakest filler spell during this time I’m now the one tanking.

Not necessarily.
Follower dungeons are slow.

A lot of players like speed running dungeons so new players or those wishing to learn a new class / spec or simply those who dislike speed running get kicked from learner dungeons for not fighting the entire dungeon in a single pull.

So you’d have speed runners grouping if there are enough of them.
And everyone else doing Follower Dungeons.

But the point of follower dungeons was never for levelling … it was so people who have problems with group dungeons could see them and get the end of the stories which otherwise we didn’t know until we were able to proper solo them when the next expansion is released (if you’re lucky).

They’re like pets. You have to position yourself to position them. It’s tricky.

Not in any of the follower dungeons I did while teaching myself to heal. (And I did take charge of the pulls because the tank wasn’t pulling enough.)

That’s kind of boring, yeah. I just engage a load of mobs and let her collect them up before I start doing proper damage.

LFR hopefully will be an AI raid at some point.

Very true. BUT I for one totally appreciate this, as I really don’t want to spend hours glued to the computer three nights a week just to be able to enjoy the game. Yes, this is very different from meeting random ppl dancing on tables in the Lion’s Heart Inn and making friends and building guilds that way… that was fun, no doubt, but the dependence on others to enjoy every aspect of the game was just too much. Eventually IRL got in the way for everyone and guilds started to fall apart, etc. Maybe WoW only catered for a teenage audience when it came out, but that was like 20 yrs ago and a lot of ppl are still fans of the game, in very different IRL situations and much less time to play.

I guess serious raiding still requires a solid community so there you have it. For a lot of other stuff the ability to solo quests, dungeons, etc. is really convenient and makes the game accessible to a wider audience. Essentially you can enjoy the game even if you skip the raiding part. It’s just one aspect of many. I think that’s fine.
