It is frustrating to think that some nerd locked your desired name in 2004
put all server together ( of the language ) and whoever logs in first gets the name
like the nerd in 2021 which wants the name now ?

Iām a nerd. My first char name back in 2004 is now used by so many ānerdsā.
Annoyed me a few years ago. Now Iām ok with it.
Almost weekend so letās all chillax and try and have a good time aiight
The names arenāt locked anymore, After some time of an account not logging in the names are freed. Itās been like this for the last 2 expansions afaik.

If an account is dormant for two expansions or more, the character names on that account are released for re-use automatically.

What annoys me is a name being inactive long enough to disappear off the armory but is still not freed up for use. They should look not for account inactivity, but instead that of this particular character thatās holding a name up.

If the name was made in 2004 and the account has been inactive, it has already been freed and claimed by someone else. Last time I checked, Blizzard was purging old names every once in a while. During the last round (around Legion) I grabbed a bunch of names that have definitely been claimed beforeāShadow, Claire, Emma, Loveā¦

While the name you want might not be available on your chosen realm, try other realms if you do really realllyyyy want whatever name.
Since SL pre-patch and up to now, Iāve been getting names I wanted, but werenāt available prior.
figured Iād try some names on my realm see if any had been freed up, i donāt quite understand thisā¦

In the old ToS from 2004 you were not allowed to give yourself ātitleā names and that warning for some reason covers that

I hate to be that guy but I wander if:
Queen - allowed (inclusive)
King- mature (toxic)
Prince - Restricted
Princess - mature (derogatory)
Iām gonna stop trying to take names, it makes me sadā¦

tbh names should be battlenet bound, this way serveral people can have the same name.
