My 606 Ret did 8m healing in a 3 minute strictly off passive healing… that is a fair bit more than other classes, nevermind the fact they got Flash of Light, Lay on Hands, and a whole bunch of shields… how are they bad at survivability?

Ret got a nerf. Everyone else got a buff. Also ret isnt meta amongst the dps specs.
So what? You don’t balance around people that can’t press their buttons. Not how it works. Balance doesnt matter for low keys whatsoever because stuff dies anyway.
Because mobs die in seconds. Same reason why Assa is “horrendous” in low keys.
The overall result was a nerf.
Their healing wont save them in higher keys as the incoming damage is too much (also cast time that could be used to bonk). You’re better off with flat damage decreases like feint etc or AoE shields and so on.

I don’t mind them in pve. If they are so good, grab them in to your group, why asking for nerf. I only hate their bubble/bop in pvp.

Ret is easy but hard to master bit like a face roll warrior.
It wasn’t, I levelled my ret during prepatch. Where you get this idea? When I said I hadn’t played Ret I meant at max level in TWW, I’ve played TWW talents.
This list isn’t really very accurate.
Enhance is the 3rd most popular dps spec at 15+ keys, behind Frost DK and Aug and it’s listed as “B-tier” which is comical. Ret is very close in numbers to most of the other specs you will find in 15+ keys, and would be higher if the spec had better personal survival.
There is no way Ret is a “B tier” M+ spec comparable with Feral/Shadow/Hunters/WW Monk/Warlocks, you could combine all the high keys done by those specs and it’s still less than just Ret Paladin.

Dude, imagine being a dps player and having to worry about playing meta or getting invited to a dungeon, just cause everyone’s too scared to get hit by digital mobs
There is no way you can play ret pala and be in mid range at all times and yes some of it was changed in pre patch you can go look for it yourself. Pala was nerfed last week and compared to others ST is behind people are so focused on AOE they tend to forget about ST which is were ret is lacking.
If you donrt know what are talking about, its better to shutup.

tbf the complaints are far less if rouges are on top because you need some kind of skill level to output dps. The reason people are angry or disheartened is because blizz is granting tuning passes towards the most popular casual specs out there more frequently.
Dragonflight had BM Hunter and this time its the meele of the BM’s (ret). Its so ez to play that it attracts casuals and those impacts business decisions. If those players are quitting it will be a pain for the wallet in the HQ.
According to this thread it’s the opposite, every ret is some kind of dps god and the actual strong specs aren’t.
I mean, it was pretty obvious the op was kind of trolling.
If his experience was that ret was doing 3-4m per pack and topping meters, then the content he is doing has the packs lasting 10 seconds. Don’t get me wrong, ret it pretty good, but nowhere near the most op spec. It has some nice aoe burst, and some nice utility, that’s it (it still is pretty popular at mid-high keys, but just that).
Now yeah, the tier list that you posted did not really paint the full picture. Ret is 2nd most popular dps in keys above 12 (after dk), but is in no way op or in need of nerfs imho.

It is because of how the meta seem to shift.
Prot paladin seem to be on the rise, and Disc looks to have taken Resto’s healing spot, but shaman utility is still too good to pass up.
So even if they are B tier due to their target caps they are still taken for their totems and other utilities. It is kind of like the situation with shadow priests in late DF who were brought only for Mass Dispel, Mind soothe and PI for fire mages. Their damage was lackluster compared to other specs, but that wasn’t why they were there.

It feels bad being a class that has a S tier spec and a C tier spec, when you don’t enjoy playing the S tier one.
