Can You Change The Portrait Picture To A Custom One? (SOLVED)

Its a silly question, and there is not much reasoning behind it- just fun.
What I want to do is to change the Ingame portrait picture to a custom one.
What makes me think this is possible is addons like BigDebuffs doing it when you’re stunned for example.

You can, I have an animated portrait of my characters (and any NPC), which is called “Adapt”.

Yeah but can you set it to a customized picture/s for example ?
point is: Im an artist, i like to draw and i wonna make my own custom portraits xD

You can’t just upload a .png image into wow, but there is definitely a complicated way to do what you’re asking. However, you said you want it to show when you are CC’ed, and that is an addon-functionality that could potentially get removed next expansion, so I’d wait until gamescom midnight reveal to see if your efforts are gonna be worth it

No, not necesarily.
I just want to change the profile picture, ideally it should work during conditions too but yeah.

Draw something on a piece of paper and stick it with duct tape to the top left part of your monitor :sunglasses:

The future is now old man

Nice one :+1:

FOUND A SOLUTION:

Step 1
Requires you to have some photo editing software like Photoshop.
And a little bit of skill, if not dont worry I gotchu:
Go on WoW. Enlarge your frame by 200%, screenshot it.
Go on Photoshop:
Make 2 new layers above the already existing Background one.
1st layer you should Coppy and Paste a screenshot of your Incgame frame.
2nd layer should be the Image you want to replace your portrait with.
3rd layer should remain untouched until the very end.
Keep this order of layers.
Get the Cuttout tool, you can use the premade shapes for perfect results. Holding Ctrl can help with your precision at times.
Goal is to remove the original portrait and creating this space where we can position our new one.
Once you’re done go on the 2nd layer where your image is and position it in a way to your liking- thats how the final product is gonna look like.
Once you’re happy with the positioning of it, go on the 1st layer again and press Ctrl + Click on the same layer you’re already on (the frame layer. 1st one) this should select everything without the cuttout.
Once you have the selection click again on the 2nd layer (the image layer) and press Delete.
What you’re left with is the final result.
Delete the first layer
And right click on the top layer - >Merge Down
Now erase the surrounding area and save the image in its original Photoshop format.

Step 2
Look online for .TGA converter - once you convert the image and download it.
Make a new folder in your "D:\Blizzard\World of Warcraft_retail_\Interface\AddOns"
And name it however you want.
Go inside and drop the file you converted.

right click on it and clicking Properties and Coppy the location string + the name of your file.
You will need this later.
(example: D:\Blizzard\World of Warcraft_retail_\Interface\AddOns\Portrait\Alessa)

Step3
If WoW is open- Close it and reopen it.

Go on Weakauras and click Import and put this in:

Once you’re done: Click on the grouped file (on the +) click on the lower file on the right side you should click on “Display” and under “Texture Settings” you should be able to ctrl + v the path you coppied to your file. Make sure it ends up with the file name.
Thats it.
Now you just have to position it.
Here is the final result (this picture doesnt belong to me, just something im using for the sake of example)
https:// imgur. com /a/1YYqjHG

Now if you want more pictures to change according to certain conditions like forms you can play around with Weakauras → Trigger and select “form/stance” and assign different images for different forms.
And you need to duplicate the weakaura.
