Yes, Blizzard apparently said in a interview on WoWhead that traditional flying will be available as per other expansions. They just were looking for an alternative that gave flying earlier possibly, Dragon Riding or the mechanics of it will be implemented in future expansions as a great many people enjoy it, even myself though I am never going to master it I suspect!!
So for those with specific challenges it is only a wait (smiles)
Hi I have other reasons for not partaking of Dragon Flying, but this is a personal challenge that I set myself at the launch of all expansions. I basically level to cap without ever leaving the Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor, I cannot do a single quest, I cannot use a weapon and the biggy is that I never use a mount of any kind. I am just about to ding 68 and do a level a day. I play only a couple of hours on this character.
I also have another character that is now Level 57 that I only use Battle Pets to level, although I did build my Garrison to Tier 3 cus I like the space and the shipyard. I will also take that char to 70 without doing the new expansion.
I have one character in the new expansion and whilst my character I am posting on here is near 68 my char in the game has only just gotten past 61. I will avoid any dragon flying as far as I can and am just having a blast doing my own thing. I can’t be bothered levelling up to be honest, I’m just taking in the scenery.
Dunno if that helps but I will be Level 70 in a couple of days and don’t even use a weapon or gear or do quests or leave the old kingdoms. Not sure how that would help cus you would be level 70 and achieved nothing in the game. I just do it as a personal challenge, cus I can.
than that means that u are not important … u are not even telling why u dont like … simply this is better way of flying and other way of flying should be removed
Such comments are great for farming likes, but the reality is you can’t make a game that’s engaging, entertaining, and accessible to every type of person no matter how disabled. At some point accessibility will compromise the essence of the game.
It’s always a small set of people dictating what we get. They’re called blizzard. Raiders didn’t implement dragonriding, the people in charge of the game did. Who by the way have the numbers, the REAL numbers mind you of how popular each feature is.
Absolutely awesome!!
I love accounts like this, people looking at the game as a sandbox and creating their own goals, challenges and creative entertainment!!
Thank you for sharing that has proper made me smile…
Come on guys, stop bullying me or I’ll be forced to make empty threats of unsubbing from such a toxic community.
Just a quick question though. Did you also skip the first few months of every expansion where flying wasn’t enabled from the start? I mean there’s a total of 1 dungeon that needs dragonriding so it’s not really a justification for not playing DF.
Or you can just admit you made this thread knowing the answer fully well, just so you can say “then I won’t sub until they give me what I want”.
Why is everyone so antagonistic? Someone asked a simple question, someone else answered it fully.
Not everyone wants to do the same things and some physically can’t do them.
So far as dragon-flying is concerned, I do it but I really dislike it. I don’t have the dexterity nor a brain that thinks quickly enough so I don’t get dumped on the ground. If you love dragon-flying, then that’s great … but there’s no need to be nasty to people who think differently to you.
Just to build on this, the tutorial is VERY short. You glide through like 3-4 rings a few times and you’re done, so don’t let it put you off.
There is a lot of flight paths, and places that allow you to teleport to very high platforms. You could use these and goblin gliders to get around possibly, or just wait until they re-introduce the old style of “flying”.
Yes, OF COURSE you can get to 70 in Dragonflight without dragonriding. D’oh!
Dragonriding is part of the MSQ of the first zone of Dragonflight, and I think you need it to earn the questing achievement for the zone, if you care about that. And there may be some quests you can’t get to on foot, but there are at least several that provide a lift to high places you need to get to. I was surprised about that myself when I found them. It seems Blizzard are sticking with the old philosophy that you can do everything on foot - though travelling may take longer.
But even if you don’t do Dragonriding proper, surely you can hit the up button a couple of times just to hop to a higher place. You can manage that, I hope, even if you don’t actually need to.
But there are more than plenty quests to get you to 70. My mage hit 69 without even finishing the first two zones. Or you could spam dungeons or BGs if you prefer. Or do pet battles. Whatever.
