Can you level up without dragon flying?

I farmed all the glyphs on twink in 30 minutes. Its account-wide. Now I fly at 800% speed with rush forward every 5 seconds. Without falling down and waiting on the ground. Just like normal flying but like 4x times faster. You also dont need any achievments, 5k gold like in pandaria. Its not time gated. That improved flying is open for you since first day. For free. All you need is to spend 30 minutes to find glyphs. No long grind rep, long questchains, lots of gold like was before. WHY THE HELL IS IT BAD, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPLAINERS?

Pretty sure all the quest hubs are accessible without flying (I did use my ground mount in quite a few places just to see if I could get around).
But given the expansion is built around flying it might get abit boring having to ride to and from quest objectives…probably more annoying then Zuldazar pre flying!

Although it might be kinda interesting to do one time with an alt as a ‘hard mode’ LOL

I think it is totally fine if people don’t like dragon flying, be it because of lack of skill, nausea or disability (or something else). I also think you don’t have to give a reason if you don’t like it. A game simply cannot please everyone and we have to accept it.

I absolutely love dragon flying because it finally makes travelling and exploring fun and long distances and adventure instead of a chore and I actually hope they never add regular flying to this expansion - because I only want to see actual dragons flying around. It’s the Dragon Isles. If I see hundreds of snakes, horses, tigers or other weird creatures flying around, it would kill the immersion for me, at least for a bit. There are many crybabies (not the creator of this thread, their answers are totally fine, ate least the ones I read) around, but they are a minority. Majority of people likes it. I hope blizzard doesn’t change things now, but only fixes bugs.

In Shady Sanctuary there is a quest you have to go up on a balcony to get.

If you have a Dragon at all, you could just push the Up button once or twice to get there. However, a nearby dragon actually offers you a lift up.

If they went that far, I’m guessing that all the quests in the game (except teh actual Dragonriding ones like the races) are do-able without Dragonriding.

I really, really hate dragon racing. Did all the bronze ones (after many many attempts) and I think I’ll leave it there!
Im ok swooping over the landscape and having a blast but those race courses give me a ridiculous amount of anxiety. Even with the track marked I will still fly off into the sunset or hit a tree!LOL

This wasn’t a simple question, it was a loaded question baiting responses.

This question was asked and answered in another thread which the OP posted in, so he really knows the answer.

Another selection of his greatest hits.

Hes going to find a reason to hate. An original person would come up with well, something original. Low effort classic alts just have to recycle others greatest hits because they lack the imagination.

Make no mistake. If they added in normal flying tomorrow he’d move the goalposts.

I have an update of information.

The quests Dragonriding, and the three initial exmples, and getting your first Dragonriding Glyph, are indeed required for the MSQ of the first zone. In this I was correct.

And I am still pretty sure you never actually have to use Dragonriding to complete any quest thereafter.

However, what I did not realise is that you do have to complete the MSQ of all four zones to unlock World Quests (and maybe some other stuff; idk.) I think this is very very bad of the devs.

Like Shadowlands, where you had to complete the whole main storyline of all four zones to unlock Covenants, which in turn uinlocked other things, in Dragonflight, you have to complete the whole main storyline of all four zones to unlock World Quests (and whatever you get from those).

You can definitely get to 70, so that still holds. And I believe that you only have to do those inital Dragonriding tutorial quests for the MSQ. But you do have to do those if you want to open WQ.

I’ve seen the topic in question. It’s six days old, and up until two days ago, people were uncertain if Dragonriding could be skipped during the leveling process. There is one reply from two days ago saying it’s possible, but the thread was kind of swarmed by needlessly inflammatory responses before that and was quickly derailed.

It could be that people just grow tired of reading things not pertaining to a topic and then create their own.

Players who have become jaded over the years due to the game’s severe mismanagement typically lash out like this. It’s not uncommon and while I’m sure they’d love to jump ship, they’re probably still hoping that the game will see changes that more accurately align with their idea of fun.

Personally I love Dragonriding, except for the fact that you can’t hover in midair when you have to pause to tend to other concerns that might come up.

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea though and that’s fine. The only issue going forward is that it’s not allowing players who have some sort of motion sickness or disability to navigate the game as intended, which is a problem.

There is a way to completely avoid it if you allow players to take you along as a passenger. It’s actually adorable, since you turn into a whelp and automatically follow the player who is carrying you.

But it wasn’t my little friend, I was genuinely curious if I could level without the dragon flying. But hats off to you doing your research on me and making your thorough psychological analysis :grinning:

That was Sherlock Holmes stuff at its finest. But on topic, I really do want to know if this is possible so I can avoid it. One person already answered it straight away so there was no need for the rest of you to get triggered by a question.

And if you are all so triggered by this maybe you should take a look at yourselves? Why would this bother you so much? Does it matter that I don’t like what you like? Are you all really that fragile?

I’m not triggered at all. Just pointing out how inconsistent your story is. It took me all of 2 minutes to do but I can see how such an attention span would be “Sherlock” like to you.

Fragile? You’re the one that is scared you’re going to catch a dose of “woke” from exposure to retail.

Also, friend? Did you pay your subscription fee? It’s £25 for a wave and £50 for a friendly greeting. Special bundle offer for you of only £90.

For more info if it matter.

The dungeon that is dragon flying is FULL of “free recharge”, you can’t really run out of vigor, really it’s just a way to move quicker on a map from A to B.

0 boss mecanics, and even basic dragon flying mecanics to move are simplified to the max.

Hey OP, other than the intro-quest to it and the one (optional) dungeon, you’d be fine levelling and there are flight points everywhere. Some may be difficult to get to if you don’t want to dragon-fly but it’d be pretty easy to find someone willing to give you a ride up there to grab the flight points.

Not sure why you are getting so much hate OP, but as someone who was also very skeptical of the dragon riding gimmick - give it a try. It’s actually quite… dare I say it, fun. I had to revert back to an original flying mount yesterday to fly through an old zone and it felt really bland and dull.

DF has a lot to offer, I recommend giving it a go

So far, I’m only 63 in the second zone so probably not the fullest of opinions, I’ve only had to do Actual Dragon Riding for the Intro Tutorial quests. I do think that if Bliz are wanting to improve Accessibility that they could have made some of these (the diving bits) optional as I’ll never use Diving or similar manoeuvers.

The Dracthyr Diving tutorial took me roughly 7 hours to ham fist blunder my way through by flying spirals in the white circle on the minimap until I hit something.

The Main Campaign one wasn’t as tricky but still took me a few hours. I managed to fluke 4/5 on one go and as I was on the ground I hearthed and used flight master to fly back to the top of the tower and got the 5/5 and then took a few goes as trying to land on the end point.

Since then I’ve mostly ignored Dragon Riding. I’ve used it to fly to the next quest hub and if I get stuck on the side of a mountain (more common than not) I’ll hearth back and try again, rarely takes more than 3 goes to get where you’re going.
It may be possible to travel entirely on ground mounts though. The zones are quite large and there are a lot of mountains, canyons and other such terrain so by ground is probably bothersome.

So apart from the tutorials the Dragon Riding system is probably not game breaking.

I think it’s snowing, do you feel it aswell? :mountain_snow:
