Can you level up without dragon flying?

I have a DK without even any abilities at level 65 atm, but I actually did Shadowlands raid with it!
I never selected a spec, so I am just a “Death Knight”.
I am below healers in dps done

If you have a friend who has a dragon, you can ask them to fly you around on their dragon. This will allow you to level up without having to fly a dragon yourself.

Some quests require you to fly up to higher locations with no other way up. A huge amount you can run around on the ground but the terrain is not always that friendly towards it. It varies from zone to zone though.

I do not like the new flying, it makes me want to throw up every time I use it, so I do understand your reluctance. I am currently contemplating if I need to take a break and wait until regular flying is made available.

Even using these settings I still get dreadful motion sickness and I have to keep stopping in game or log out until I stop feeling like I want to throw up.

Dragonriding: FOV Effects

Dragonriding FOV changes do not occur if you have selected “Reduce Camera Motion” in the Accessibility > General menu.

Dragonriding: Full Screen Effects

Dragonriding top-speed full screen effects do not display if you have checked “Alternate Full Screen Effects” in the Options > Accessibility > General menu.

There is a system where a friend can carry you around as a whelp. It’s great as long as you have someone to chauffeur you about every time you play. You can gather the glyphs as a whelp but dragon racing doesn’t count. They can do the races with you as a whelp but you get no credit, which is reasonable IMO.

There are a number of players affected by this but on the whole the dragon riding has been well received, people love that it’s interactive and super fast.

I use the flight paths in game a lot and am slowly unlocking the teleport network.

Ignore all the replies from people who harp on about skill issues and other nonsense. Having a disability or suffering from motion sickness is not a skill issue. They just seem to be incapable of understanding something outside of their own bubble. No one is trying to take dragon riding away from anyone. Blizzard’s philosophy isn’t to alienate people, in fact quite the opposite they’ve been looking to improve accessibility on the whole.

Improving accessibility In World of Warcraft for all players is an ongoing effort. We’ll continue to work on making Azeroth a welcoming world of adventure for everyone and share more updates as they become available. Thanks for playing!

We don’t know when regular flying will come in but it is going to come at some point.

Yes.
You can level only by running dungeons (and yes, you can do nok offensive on a ground mount, everyone is going to hate you but it’s doable, tested myself the first day) and by gathering profession.
It’s going to take you forever though, and i’m sure some speedrunner/youtuber/megahardcorenerdaplayer will do it at some point.

if you ignore the story and just spam dungeons then yes

What is annoying is that I never trained any skills and yet when they released the prepatch for this last expansion they filled in my talent tree and gave me the base spells.

I started this char a few expansions back when the creators dumped on my aliance human female mage, redesigning them so she looked like an old washer woman, and so I had to create all new Horde characters. I decided to give her a back story of not being able to do any of the story in game. So she has never ever done a single quest, ever. She has never once used a ground or flying mount. Had never trained anything. I currently have 8 talent points stacked up as I dinged 68 last night. Her gear level 3 pulls 1.5 million damage though I just punch stuff that gets in the way. And even at gear score 3 she has over 50500 health.

Interesting that before they updated Karazhan a few years back you could level a character through all levels of an expansion by simply using battle pets on the Arcane Eyes. This was a unique mob cus there was only one of them. They were very close together and a single sweep of the area gave you a whole level. Fortunately there are plenty of places in the Old Kingdoms you can level effectively.

Two days time I retire this character until the next expansion when she hits 70.

Without ever resorting to Dragon Riding? No.
But I’m pretty sure you can play almost all of DF without it. There are going to be a couple of mandatory quests to introduce the mechanic, but that’s pretty much it. Maybe some other quests need you to acces otherwise unreachable places, but you can ignore it the rest of the time and jump on other players’ dragons on the rare occasions where dragon riding might be needed or too convenient.
Keep in mind travelling only with ground mounts is going to take longer, but it’s almost as feasible as ever.

if it’s not a health issue like motion sickness and just a preferance , then you can use dragonriding to unlock flying paths once so you will never need it again, shouldn’t take long to unlock them all since you can fly with %830. i think they should add some sort of vendor item that unlocks all the fps even if it’s your first char. some people really don’t want to use dragonriding ( i love it btw.)

This has got to be a troll post. Imagine being not even willing to give the critically acclaimed new feature a try.

Blizzard I’m praying you say “yes”… But can you play World of Warcraft: Dragonflight without doing any of the new Dragonriding flying and still reach Max Level and get good gear etc?

Basically I’m disabled with Cerebral Palsy and I have bad hand control so I play WoW with one finger. I can do Normal Mount Flying perfectly fine. However the new Dragonriding feature is just impossible for me to do and no its not to do with skill I physically cant do Dragonriding at all… If you cant skip Dragonriding then I might as well quit WoW after 12 years of playing.

Also if you really have to do Dragonriding then can you make the cool Dragonriding Mounts usable like Normal Flying Mounts please as the Dragonriding Mounts look so cool.

Thank you for your time

Yet you are still here.

I am really curious to know why you dislike it. In my opinion this is the first time since legion that Blizzard is adding something new to WoW.

Are you the kind that is against changes?

because as I’m disabled with the use of one finger so I physically just can’t do Dragonriding plus the quests for it ire impossible to do as they are far too fast. So I’ll ask again

Can you play World of Warcraft: Dragonflight without doing any of the new Dragonriding flying and still reach Max Level and get good gear etc?

Yes
Yes you can
Only one Dungeon needs dragon flying (and even that can be avoided if someone in the team have a dragon you can hop on)
You don’t need flying to do the content, but helps, but it is totally possible to do them on foot; everywhere roads exist, it is just takes a bit longer and slower
Craft, Mythic dungeon (except one) the Raid or PvP for gear don’t need flying

Only the Waking Shores Storyline “needs” it

  1. [60-62] How to Glide with Your Dragon
  2. [60-62] How to Dive with Your Dragon
  3. [60-62] How to Use Momentum with Your Dragon

So in a sense, yes, while you indeed could reach 70 and have a good gear, best gear even, the story requires you to learn how to fly through a few hoops
They are super easy tho’ , not timed , etc

EDIT: I’m not sure, it is possible to do these while using some one’s “Ride Along Feature”, it is possibly to collect glyps while on “passanger mode”, maybe the compagain too… never tried it, maybe some one knows (but it is “optional” during the quests to hop on your dragon? Maybe? Psossibly? )

Ah understood! Well in that case, yes you can but it will be extremely annoying. Though most quests you can go from the ground I guess (sorry I didn’t pay much attention to that, so I am not sure).

Though if you can cast spells / attacks while playing WoW I suppose it shoudn’t be an issue to do the same while dragonriding, just changing a bit the shortcuts.

Space is making you up, if you can hit this touch easily then you can go super high and just let you fly down (or just click on the spell to go up). At the end you might as well be faster than a regular flying mount : )

oh thank Satan

Just out of curiousity. When you say dragonriding, do you mean never touching it at all or do you mean using it regulary? Because you can do pretty much everything except the races without it. And for anything but the races it pretty much behaves like a normal mount if you want it to.

If you can do PvP, PvE, Raid, dungeon, hell even just regural PvE world quest, were you need situational awareness, move around, use half a dozen skills, - you know, basically the Game content - you shouldn’t have problem pressing 1-3 button either

I cant PvP and I’m slow… even my able bodied carer finds Dragonridng very awkward

No, it’s avoidable outside tutorial.
