Can you refund paid transfer WOTLK Classic?

I was transferring my main and toons from Gehenass to Morgraine because Blizzard begged us to do so because they are unable to invest their billions into modern server infrastructure. Midway through transferring my characters I am no longer to do so. The transaction for my alt goes through but 15min passes and it is not transferred. I check again and try to do the transaction a second time. Mograine was closed now. I was so confused because no announcement was made. The announcement about this was made almost 12 hours after. Blizzard communication is absolutely abysmal as always. So now only one of my 5 characters is on Mograine because it was locked halfway as I was doing all of the transactions. Is it possible to refund this transfer? I have not logged into the character since to see if maybe this helps me clarify I am not trying to abuse the character transfer (thank you, Blizzard, for wasting my raid lockouts). It’s been over a week since I opened my ticket ( EU84615707) and no response yet. Absolutely slow customer support. Insane.

It depends, generally transfers are one way and not refunded. There could be a chance, but keep your ticket open.

CS response timers’s slow due multiple game launches and other circumstances, quite unfortunate.

To be fair this is the stupid post I am referring to and this is just a lie for anybody with a bit of experience in the industry:

“There’s no technology solution to this.”

Well tbh… u cant really know what server theyre using. I find it very unlikely it isnt as high as they can get it.

Their engines 2 decades old, the games engine simply wont run certain modern things, thats nothing to do with cheapness

Replacing a game engine would bring the game down for weeks, a move that completely killed everquest 2.

No ones going to sit out for 2-4 weeks of the game coming down and patiently return upon its reopening, the game will hemorrage.

Theyve stated, the only way to push their servers further would be mega servers, and they arent workable on the games engine, so unless theyre going to launch WoW 2. Theres no real fix.

Now sure they, they managed to fix this on retail, their servers hold alot more players and take a awful lot more to. However classic is running on the same server as retail.

The difference is:

The players on classic simply do not want the infrastructure used to improve the situation, players stated a hard no to that, so… you have a wow server without those modifications.

Your experiencing, why phasing and cross realms started becoming a reality late into wotlk onwards. They tried several things however the WoW engine simply couldnt handle it. So they created what retail has a comprimise to be a hybrid of the 2.

That’s not true at all, they use an engine about 5 years old.

The engine? Their engine is from vanilla, hence why they talk about the quantity of spaghetti coding going on.

Their server and infrastructure / modifications are 5 years old yes.

You cant just swap out a gaming engine. The game would have to go down for a severly long time in order to do such. You would know if they had updated it.

They have modified the engine, several times. However no they didnt replace the engine 5 years ago. Unless i have missed something severe. But im pretty certain this games engine has never been swapped out.

No, it isn’t from Vanilla, they completely updated it quite a few times since then, otherwise the computer specs would be the same and it isn’t.

Thats what modifications are for.

They can update a engine internally. However they cannot make it do. Updating a engine and replacing a engine are very different.

However it doesnt mean its compatible for everything. Ion and devs from even prior ion have stated several times the engine cannot handle mega servers.

They modified a old engine, to create a hybridized engine yes, however the engine which holds the games foundation is from 2004. The modifications that are done to it keep it stable.

However its why we have so many bugs, issues etc etc.

The quantity of coding in the game is stupid at this point which means its breaking jtself as things are added faster.

Its why i think they did ow2 first, to test the transitioning in intergrating OW2 into OW1, i think next expansion we will see similar, where WoW 2 is intergrated into wow1 removing all the downfalls of launching a new game but with the benefit of changing parts holding the game up

Just because the engines old doesnt mean its graphics cant improve. They can swap things in and out inside the engine, it simply just csnt do certain things. Which is mega servers.

However as u can see by retail, the game dont need megaservers.

Like a pc.

You can update the insides of a pc, however there are limitations i.e what can and cannot slot into its slots etc etc.

A engine works the same, they can update the graphics, modify the servers, link them to the cloud to lift things. But there are also things they simply csnt do.
