When you get 50, you lose the ability to use chromie time and scale old content to your level. So my question is, if you stop experience at 49 at a char, won’t this char be able to change expansions through chromie time at will, and so be able to enjoy all old content without it being obsolete? Meaning, you are not getting any fancy gear, but the enemy levels are relative, so playing old expensions is fun.
I’ve recently leveled a few alts, and want to keep one just for that, quests, farming, just fun, etc. So is it possible, or do I have it wrong?
Yes, stopping XP at 49 will help you keep the Chromie Time system for as long as its capped. You get a very tiny amount of XP from quests, should last you a while.
With a level 49 character, you will be able ALMOST the whole game scaled. The max level content from BFA, like Visions and the end of the War Campaign it is only for level 50 or more characters, but you could stop at level 49, do all content from expansions before BFA, then level to 50 and stop experience, do level 50 BFA content and then you can continue into Shadowlands.
I was planning to play pretty much all of Pandaria and I’m at level 42 iirc. Should I stop at 45 or something? Was planning to stop at 49 but that sounds like a bad idea now.
As much of the fun in freezing exp is doing all the quests in a zone, even if you get a little exp from quests you’ll level up eventually.
I want to have a char that never moves to Shadowlands, but always stays in a lower level so he can have the choice of questing (or just roaming around) in whatever zone.
I’ve played twinks before, but never actually did many quests with them, so not sure about how they work experience wise. I’ll freeze exp now and check it out…
YOU DO NOT GET EXPERIENCE FROM ANY SOURCES WHEN YOU DISABLE IT!
Everyone who says otherwise is just a misinformation, in prepatch you don’t even have an experience bar anymore when you disable it. You get 0 from questing.
In a word, yes. Considering doing Loremaster (AGAIN) like this. Like fully experience the expansion again, all the quests, all the dungeons, (boosted through raids ig), all the reps, all the gear.
Or have one character per expansion to max it out, thematically.
Then when they are done they can graduate to 50.
If you play a normal char you vastly outlevel even any single expansion, I’ve recently leveled 3 alts through Wod, Legion and Pandaria. Reminds me of the loremaster and seeker thing I did years back, only this time it’s better, cause you play normally and don’t just blast through everything in a second
