I cannot buy a wow token with my in-game gold. I have characters on two realms “Hyjal” and “Ysondre”. One characters has around 150 000~ gold (Fluffydrake from Hyjal) and 120 000~ gold (Roadtovulper from Ysondre).
Others smaller alt characters made my total of gold go around 315 000~ (used an external add-on called ‘Altoholic’ to verify that information)
The current token price fluctuates between 250 000 and 275 000 at most in EU. Having 315 000 in total on all my characters should grant enough to not leave any at 0 gold, as per mentionned in the rules to be able to buy a token when out of game time. My characters being in different realms shouldn’t affect the outcome either, since it’s a EU global token, and not per realms.
I’ve farmed for those golds to be able to keep on playing the game because I don’t have money left. I just want to be able to pay for what I worked for…
I think you can buy token and convert it to the game time directly from the character selection screen if your game time has expired and that should be able to use gold from all the characters in the current realm. Unfortunately even that requires the gold to be on the same realm.
If you have gametime active Dottie’s advice is correct, and move the gold to single character per realm.
I cannot. Mailing gold to another realm isn’t possible. Plus : I wouldn’t be able to even if this was a solution : I am out of game time and cannot buy more.
Unfortunate I don’t think there is anything you can do then, as the WoW token FAQ says that to be able to reactivate subscription enough gold must be on the single realm.
“While each character on a realm will contribute gold to the price of the Token, you may receive an error if this would zero out the gold for any character”
I made a post on Reddit and someone finally made me understand. English isn’t my native language and from the sentence " each character on a realm will contribute" I didn’t understand that this was realm-locked. I just thought it meant all characters, despite realm, would contribute. Not that characters on the same realm contribute to their own realm, seperated sum.
Imo, this doesn’t make a lot of sense as a token is region-wise but well… I’m kind of mad honestly, would have I known that, I wouldn’t have spent dozens of hours farming useless gold. Now I can’t play anymore and wasted my time because of a weirdly phrased sentence.
I guess I can only hope this forum helps someone not make the same mistake…
It happens very rarely, although its cleared up very quickly by the regular posters here.
If you wanted to suggest them to make it clearer or that Region-wide realm gold is taken from all your characters instead you can do so here though:
Magical Suggestion Box
The good news is, that your gold will remain as is on your characters and next time you can farm a bit more for a WoW token or use the gold for something else.
