I don’t think it matters whether you have your authenticator in the old app or the Battle.net app. Sure, having it in Battle.net creates a catch-22, as you can’t access your authenticator when Battle.net isn’t working. But I highly doubt people using the old authenticator can log in regardless. I highly doubt Blizzard is using different backends for authentication for different games, so even if you have access to your authenticator, you would still be unable to log in, as the backend won’t verify your authentication code.

Seems like you can get your authentication code from the Battle.net app without being logged in. And as expected, trying to launch World of Warcraft manually, and manually inputting my credentials + the authentication code does not work.
