I’m on the correct floor of Oribos, near the table with the half mask, not long before i’ve posted this there were other people who asked where he is because they can’t see him too, also i’ve tried:
- Changing floor and back
- Logout
- Close game
- Abandon Quest and try again
- Abandon other Shadowlands quests
- Disabled all addons
And Bolvar just doesn’t show up, i’m a new player so i’m not sure if this is supposed to be like this or if it is a bug/server issue.

It could also be a phasing issue. However, if you believe its bugged, bugs are reported in game, not on the forums.

I have this issue too. This is on a L70 character (that’s been in the Dragon Isles for at least a few months) that I went back to complete the quest in 10.2.
Raised a bug report and a ticket (as I thought initially it was just my character). There were at least half a dozen people in the area, but the only one responding to my /say just suggested relogging (which I’d already tried). Leaving the area and going to Zereth Mortis had no affect either.
Edit: the only other SL quest in her log was the weekly for 1000 anima hand in.

By phasing you mean the NPC is busy in another quest?
I’ve checked wowhead and the quest he is part of i don’t have any, the chains for them i can’t seem to find the NPCs either since no exclamation marks on the spots.
I’ll do all side quests i can find and hopefully that solves the problem.

Having the exact same issue. Any solutions yet?

I’m not sure if the issue is only with The Maw quest, it might be an issue related to characters created after X date (when bug started) or under certain ciscumstances (in this case it shouldn’t be easy to figure out the issue).
Anyway someone told me they synced with a friend that didn’t have Shadowlands done (maybe he said started shadownlands (he said was that 24h ago or so so i’m not sure)), and the NPC appeared, however the next time the NPC was missing again, even after he synced again. I haven’t tried this yet because no friends lol.
Either way there is something off for sure.
This is my first character to 70 so is the first time i’m doing this.

I am having the same issue for over 18hours now, not able to continue to open the zones in shadowlands due to it. Also a good dozen people hanging around the area all confused like. I have tried everything I can think of to try and force him to appear but nothing has worked. Got an open ticket and have submitted a bug report.

Yup, I’m having this issue too.
Reported it to Customer Service and they said they had no knowledge of the issue and I should check I’m in the right timeline, remove all addons and try again. Failing that send another ticket to support for a bug.
Well I’m 100% in the right timeline and getting rid of addons did nothing.
Very annoying as this means I can’t progress the storyline, I’m a returning player and had hoped to get Shadowlands done before Christmas.

It’s definitely not phasing, there’s nothing happening in Oribos at the moment and I have no other Shadowlands quests in my log at the moment. I can even see the other DK Vanguard NPCs standing there next to the space where he should be.

Yeah I was seeing other characters appearing and disappearing next to the spot where he should be, presumably logging in and out hoping to fix it!
I agree, I tried with my other character the earlier quests, Bolvar is there but with off to the right and back relative to looking at the table. Watching a video for the quest which has Bolvar is present for ‘The Maw’ quest has the companions in the same place as I have them, it’s just that Bolvar isn’t present.

I have just used spectral sight and Bolvar is there with a buff called Shroud of Concealment! I was able to click on him and turn in the quest!

I have found another work around, get Chest of eyes in Maldrazzus for the Sp-eye-glass. with it Bolvar will appear. Set a keybind of interact, use the glass the ‘/target High’ to target Bolvar and hit your interact key. Got to be quick to hand in is reported by people I have helped.

The NPC having the stealth buff should be helpful when it comes to Blizzard figuring out the issue.
Also with the spy glass i only see a tiny sphere, not the actual NPC, the NPC does appear after turn-in so this solution works until the problem is fixed, thank you!
Edit: The NPC keeps disappearing after done talking lol, Spy glass allows me to interact with him again.
The problem is that you have to be level 48 to use the Sp-eye-glass iirc? I’m only level 30.
Edit: I obviously have a level 70 lock, but I have never done shadowlands on this one, and is not that keen on unlocking everything

I have the same issue. Since I have a F2P account, I can’t get the Sp-eye-glass to work around the problem.
Can confirm, this worked.
Massive kudos for figuring this out!
Will say though that I didn’t need to keybind or anything, just used the Spyglass while standing in a place that meant it zoomed in on the position Bolvar would be standing and clicked quickly!
EDIT: Keep your Spyglass handy btw, you won’t be able to see Bolvar for any of the upcoming quests either!
A GM checked my character’s quest logs, and it seems at some point I partially did the campaign quest for one covenant (Revendreth) before switching to Night Fae. I’ll try switching back to check after the holidays.
Thank you for this it worked perfectly,
. I used Leatrix Plus AutoQuest option which made it easy
Bolvar appeared for the first time for the quest “The Request of the Highlord” while talking to another NPC, after accepting the next quest “A Glimpes into Darkness” he remains visible, at last for now.
Edit: For turning in the quest “A Glimpes into Darkness” he disappeared again (lol).
Also soemone on reddit recommended using the AddOn “Auto Quest” when using the Spy Glass so it auto turns in the quest, you need to use the Spy Glass again to grab the next quest in case he disappears again (he kept disappearingh for me until the quest “The Request of the Highlord”).
