Cannot purchase blizzard balance

Hello,

I don’t know whether this belongs here but here it goes…

I am trying to charge my blizzard balance for my account and every time I try to use my credit card I get an error “You don’t have enough balance to cover the cost of this purchase” + trying to purchase with my paypal says the payment is not authorized.

What’s up with this? Never seen errors like these before.

Any quick tip please?

Try to remove the payment method from your account and add it again

If it still doesn’t work you should probably contact your bank.

BTW a shot in the dark sometimes I get an SMS to approve purchases with my card IDK if it might be the same for you.

Hi,

thanks for trying to help.

I did as you advised, also found official support page where it was explained to not only remove it but clear cache and cookies too - which I did - and all it did is it changed the error message to “An internal error occurred. Try again a bit later. If you see this message repeatedly, let us know”.

I have contacted support via form, no idea what these errors are actually. I have used the card for purchase on my account like 7 hours ago without a problem. Really weird.

Also just to put it out there, twitter account response was extremely unhelpful, pointing me to the page about not being able to pay with paypal while my problem overall seems to be with the credit card. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hopefully the guys from the form support will come up with something.

There have been recent changes with my bank with online payment, maybe yours has done this too. I’m sure the regulations have changed.

All banks, across the entire EU (and in the UK) have had to change how they handle online payments and purchases.

They are now required, by law, to use “strong authentication” on all online purchases. This means that some purchases that would normally have gone through, are now being failed by your bank, because they cannot verify them as genuine.

How your bank addresses this, depends entirely on your banking institution. The most common method is for the bank to send you an SMS code which you must enter into a page somewhere, to verify the transaction. Those without an associated mobile number are automatically being failed, to get you to contact the bank.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had some issues adding balance. The first error you mentioned occurs when there’s not enough balance to cover the bill. However, it can also mean that you’ve hit the withdrawal limit on your card. Some banks limit how much you can spend and this can be specific to a per day/week/month and online/local stores/ATMs.

The second error simply means that your card issuer refused the payment but without a specific reason. Should you already have enough balance, your best bet is to reach out to your card issuer directly.

I hope that this helps. ^^

Thanks for the responses, just a quick update, it seems the issue resolved itself over night for no reason.

It would make sense it was due to the legal changes but it was sunday so no idea what that was…

Anyway all is working now just like before.
