Does anyone else have trouble choosing their class? I’m trying almost all classes, except for mage and paladin and can’t decide. I would like just to stick with one class. When I’m on my Priest healing, keeping the group alive I feel stressed and thinking I wanna do just damage.
When I’m on my warrior, I don’t wanna TANK just because you’ll get a lot of hate when not holding aggro or don’t know the way in dungeons. When I’m on my rogue or hunter, I only see rogue and hunters in-game and think “mhew, there are too many”.
Stress in choosing, I guess. How do you deal with this? Any suggestions?
Thanks <3
How much do you play?
If you play a lot, you could distribute your time equally, enjoy them all, embracing the altoholism. By allocating time, you’ll end up playing in groups with classes and builds needed there, while with others you’ll just quest and farm.
Do you want to run dungeons and raids, or rather just play?
I suspect dungeons. If you have the patience, you could organise your own groups.
If you mainly play… who cares! In fact, playing a popular class means having the most info (and competition for certain runes).
Druid and paladin are the safe choice as they offer all three options. Druids even include the caster which seems to be quite convenient with the Wrath rune. I also suspect paladins are quite nice tanks now, with the major spells from BC/Wrath added to fix them, and they are aggro magnets to begin with.
Warlocks are also pretty good at conquering the world - your forum avatar being one, I suspect you like the class. My only gripe (as a healer) is with those using Life Tap incorrectly and too much.
The question is what are you looking in a class. I would say go shadow priest. Then you could provide offhealing, unfortunately its unlikely in p1 anyones gonna take a shadow priest.
Rogue and hunters super popular, because they get taken strictly as dps. U have feral druid also but theyre also very popular.
There is No perfect class, all have pros and cons. I struggle with this too, the more i deep dive and overthink, the more Problems i See in that class. But thats with every class. For me personaly i need a class whos good for solo PvP. I Love cc. That leaves me with a few classes. Then i chose the one after looking on YouTube which did Look cool to me, still cant decide range or melde🤣. But the rp aspect is also important to me , dont want to be a Dress wearing mage or a dark demonic warlock
My personal lesson learned from Vanilla is if I don’t like healing - I need to choose a class that outright can’t do that, because otherwise social pressure and circumstance may force you to do that.
So your remaining choices are Hunter, Rogue, Warrior, Warlock.
About FOTM - the only class that 100% is guaranteed to be top dog in PvE in the end is Warrior. Their base starting point as far as endgame PvE goes is already super strong and proven by time - and their DPS runes are pretty juicy already. If by some miracle they won’t be outright top - they will be top 3 easy.
So if you want to avoid playing FOTM in PvE then don’t roll warrior.
So it leaves Hunter, Rogue and Warlock.
Hunters are giga FOTM now and for every one of other class in DPS spec you have 1.5 to 2 Hunters now. They now ride the wave of pets being obscenely OP and I expect Blizzard to hammer that nail back in. I don’t know how that will end up, but historical they do very well in early endgame raiding content even without all that.
Warlocks are the “secret” OP class of Classic. Their only Achilles’ heel was that their PvE DPS was sort of average give or take. But summons and curses are indispensable and in PvP they were always strong, but with Meta they will be obscene. Their PvE dps will definitely be stronger thanks to Incinerate and Chaos Bolt which are both strong and very mana efficient, with only pickle being early level 60 endgame content will all the fire resists and immunities. Oh and of all three they don’t have a threat drop - so that may be an issue.
Rogues are melee and they are a strong DPS in PvE. Personally I’m not a fan of both facing them and playing them. But if stealth and being annoying little b is up your alley - this is the way.
I think I play enough I have a fulltime job, but a lot of free time goes into wow. Dungeons are nice I like the social aspect in them. All the /1 and /2 talk about BFD 7/7 bring pods etc. doesn’t wanna make me play BFD at all. Thinking I’ll just skip it, I am not in a guild. Have been in a few, mostly have a lot of members but somehow are very inactive and I don’t see the use to be in them. So I /gquit
True, shadow priest and off healing is possible. When getting shadowform at 40 it perhaps will shine more. Only as a priest I feel so weak doing PVP and doing PVP pure for healing is kinda boring. It’s important, but boring haha
Thank you, thank you. Yes, I guess all have their down- and upsides. Of course I am not forced to play just one class. Perhaps deep diving in one class will make it more boring for me faster. I’m not in a hurry at all, and can just enjoy some more classes and decide later always.
