Can't click on items in chat

I re subbed for classic and I play mainly on the RP- PVE server. I decided I wanted to mix it up and yesterday I made an alt on the RP- PVP server. But for some reason I can’t click on anything in chat, not people, not items, not even to whisper. It doesn’t have a huge effect on game play, but it’s rather annoying. I have the exact same addons as on my other chars and I even imported the settings from them to make sure, but I still have that problem on that char.

I made sure to go back and check and I can still click things on my other chars on the other servers. I never had this problem before and have no idea what is causing it. If it was on all chars I would think it was an addon, but not when it’s only on 1 char. Anyone know what the problem is and how I fixed it. It’s only lvl 10 so haven’t invested a lot of time in it yet, but no idea what the problem is.

I also tried to create another char on the same realm to test and I could click on that fine. So what is the problem with just this one character? I also tried to disable ALL addons on that char, but it still didn’t help, so it’s not the addons fault.

I tried deleting the WTF folder for that character in the files, but that didn’t help either

If you’re unable to interact with chat, try the following steps:

  1. Hover your mouse over the chat box until you’re able to see the “General” tab
  2. Right-click the General tab and select Make Interactive. If Make Interactive is already selected, try toggling it to Make Non-Interactive and then back.

If the issue persists, reset your chat to the default settings by typing the command /resetchat into your in-game chat.

You might also want to delete the character folder - not WTF folder, just the affected character folder. Go to main WoW folder and select Classic or Retail, then WTF. The path should look more or less like this :

World of Warcraft_retail_\WTF\Account{Account ID}{Realm}{Character Name}

Folder will be recreated once you log in :slight_smile:
