Cant create a deathknight despite fulfilling the requirements

Since gehennas is unplayable at the moment, i tried making a DK on a different server but im getting an error message saying “You must have an existing character of at least level 55 on ANY REALM to create a Death Knight.” i have 7 characters on 70 and 2 more on 60+ yet i still get this message. is this just an unclear error message or is it bugged?

must be 55 on that realm , error message might be a leftover from new client

i think blizzard stated at some point before the prepatch launched that it would not be the way you say it is, not saying your wrong, blizzard isnt exactly good at communicating things correctly.

This only works once, even if you make your first DK on a server with higher levels, this chance will still be gone. Its bad really bad design.

To add, also if you make one and delete it. your chance will be gone.

If you already created a DK on one other realm, this is what happens.
Workaround:

  • Log on to your no. 1 (and 2 and 3 …) DK and accept the first Quest. (If you did not already do this).
    Delete no. 1 DK (and 2 …)
    Go to that other realm where you would like to make a DK
    Make a new DK there
    Return to first realm(s) and undelete no. 1 (2 …) DK there.

This should do the trick. As long as you have played the DK - also only as short as accepting the Q - he should be restorable :wink:

This is not true, if you make one and delete, you can make a new - and if you log in, and accept Q you can then undelete no 1 - as described above. I tried several times yesterday fooling around, as I have no intentions of ever playing a DK, and thus had nothing to lose by trying.

Try early tomorow morning 4-5 am is the desolate time to play. I did - hunting rares back in baby-times :wink:

The first one you can make anywhere except fresh realms.

For the second and subsequent ones you need a level 55 on the realm.

That sucks that you can’t create a DK, they’re the best class.

yeah, its just a bit strange that theyre not even bothering to put a correct error message and just leave people to assume what the real reason might be

Yeah, the message is wrong.

Once the Wrath of the Lich King Classic pre-expansion update arrives, you’ll be able to create and level Death Knight characters. Here’s how it works:

  • Your first Death Knight created in any realm is free of restrictions (except for fresh start realms that will open with the pre-expansion patch).
  • Any Death Knights created after your first one must be on a different realm, and require an existing level 55 character on the same realm.
  • You may only have one Death Knight per realm.

just for the record, deleting my first DK (so i had none on the account), creating one on a different server and then restoring my first DK worked perfectly. now i have my regular DK and a DK on a 2nd server with no previous characters on there.
