As the title says, a bit tricky when Azerite armor exists!
Any idea why? I’ve tried reset my in game options, renamed my Cache, WTF and such to CacheOld, WTFold and reinstalling the game, doesn’t work.
Any ideas?
If related, Recount and Skada weren’t working at all as well, couldn’t see them and I couldn’t even hit enter on /recount show and whatnot.
I currently have no addons installed.
Try to click on chat/general and check if you have “make noninteractive” checked, if yes, then uncheck.
Tried and that was not the issue, it’s not just in the chat that that I can’t Ctrl, Shift or Alt click items, it’s on my character and in my bag too.
So I can’t alt swap gear or shift click to open azerite.
Do you have any overlay app like discord working in background?
Nope, made sure by closing all applications besides WoW.
Is shift clicking items to open them by chance a key binding?
You reinstalled the game and deactivated addons, that should remove all uncommon key bindings though. How is your keyboard working in other apps/games? Maybe it’s hardware issue.
Doesn’t seem like it, I use alt, CTRL and Shift 1 to 6 for key bindings, but I logged unto HotS to be extra sure and Alt Casting, Shift walking and Ctrl Talent picking all worked like a charm.
In WoW, it seems like it registers my clicks on the items, but not that it has any special feature registered to the input.
Did you try on another character?
It works on 1 out of 7 characters which I tried.
The character it worked on was realm transfered yesterday or so.
But I did try on characters on other servers too.
This must be addon related then. Move your Interface, WTF and Cache folders to another directory and fully reset your ui, then try if it works.
Okay I tried it and didn’t seem to work.
Wanna elaborate on what you mean by moving it to another directory? I just made a new folder and moved those folders there.
I meant exactly what you did, i know this might be obvious question, but did you restart your computer? Do you have AMD gpu maybe?
Try to uncheck every startup program and do restart your comp.
Found the sulotion, it was my key bindings acting up for whatever reason.
Can anybody specify what fixed this as im having the same issue
I sometimes have the exact same issue, cannot use modifiers on my keys and they are ALL gone, like, I can’t even open the menu without the mouse. The only thing to do to make it work is to keep toggling between Character Specific keybinds and reset them, and remake them. It’s a chore, but the only solution, because Blizzard robot team has no idea that the chat has nothing to do with this.
You should make a copy of your character specific keybinds notepad file from the WTF folder, and each time this stuff happens, just leave the game, paste the file, and log back in.

I tried all of the above and it didn’t work.
It happened to me after I set some keybinds up from the WoW-Interface.
As i myself just encountered the problem i would like to share my solution.
This is indeed a keybinding bugg. How i solved it was to World of Warcraft_retail_\WTF\Account\MyWoWAccountName folder and delete all bindings-cache files if u have more then one. This will reset your keybindings and you have to rebind, but it works. (Save the files somewhere first example on your desktop just incase you want them back cause it doesn’t work for you)
Also a note i use the same keybinding across all chars so this solution works for me, but i suspect if you have individual keybinding you have to do the same on the character affected buy going further in the folder down to server/character. example:
\World of Warcraft_retail_\WTF\Account\YourAccountName\YourGameServer\YourAwsomeCharacterName
Thanks, with your advice today I have fixed this issue. Apparently, it was caused by an incorrect backup when switching from vanilla to TBC
