Hi everybody, I want to play 4 classes in shadowlands ( because of 4 covenants), I want 2 mele and 2 ranged classes. I know for sure that I want to play my Warrior and my Mage.
For 2nd mele class I’m deciding between Havoc Dh and Enha shaman. I really like DH’s mobility, easy rotation and good burst dps.
On shamy, I like the interesting rotation, changes done to the spec in shadowlands and overall the class fantasy. However I’m worried that shaman class in general will be nerfed like it was in bfa and i will be stuck with a weak dps specs
For 2nd ranged, I’m not sure which one is better between warlock and Hunter. I tried all the specs on both classes and except for Survival Hunter, I liked them all. I like what warlock brings to the raid/ dungeon group and I like the class fantasy more than hunter. Hunter on the other hand has more mobility, easier, but less interesting rotation
If you haven’t done so you can try every spec out yourself on the PTR.
It’s free and everyone has it.
You’ll need to copy your characters over. I think you can make a trial character and take it to org too and choose your spec, etc.
On the PTR there was one class that blew me away. I was talking to my brother about the specs, for most specs it was just a “meh, feels the same tbh” but for Shaman I was impressed.
Ele was my preferred spec but Enh was fun too. It plays like a melee-ranged hybrid.
There is a moment of downtime to the spec though which I didn’t particularly enjoy. After playing for about 45mins on a target dummy it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth but I think the SL Covenant and other additions will fill the gap.
It is a fun spec.
Second favorite class was actually DK. Both UH and Frost are very well designed. I preferred Frost to my surprise. I would highly recommend it.
So for your melee, I’d opt for Enh Shaman 100% from your options.
For ranged I was really disappointed by hunter. Hunter is also a fake ranged. It plays at ranged but it plays like a melee so I suppose it depends on what you like about being ranged.
If you like sitting back casting spells and being a proper ranged character I’d say the Lock, if you like fast paced mobile gameplay (aka melee) but just want to experience it as a ranged then hunter is perfect.
Maybe try hopping on to the PTR and test some of these classes.
Some have quite changed, some have almost not changed. While the things on the PTR are by no means final, it can probably help to get a feel for the classes.
