Can't find a way to deal with elemental shamans and arcane surge mages in pvp

Anyone could help me with this? They one shot me from long range and there is little counterplay except not to play at all… Makes the game very unplayable in pvp. Any ideas for this? Maybe they could be nerfed?

Not sure about ele shamans so cant speak there as im on horde side, I do sometimes see them losing 1v1s to warriors, but arcane surge, as a mage main saying this, shouldn’t exist. Its a dumb noskill button thats not even objectively fun. It takes up the role of the classic mage PoM/AP Pyro 3min mage spec which at least had some counterplay. PoM Arcane Blast into Arcane Surge is just dumb design. I highly doubt its even usable, or worth it, in PvE

There maybe needs to be a bit more info. What do you play and what do you do when you face an elemental?

I can then provide a bit more structured answer.

In general Ele has a very hard time to hardcast anything, unless left alone to freecast.

yup chamelem/mage/warlock are the next getting a 50% nerf after sp/boomy
thankfully they’ll nerf lavablast into the ground.

if u r any mellee atm and cant 1v1 an elemental shaman then its skill issue, im playing ele and except for shocks (which do little dmg) we only have long cast spells, in a fight against mellee we cant finish a single cast between pushback and interupt/cc… as for casters go we lose 1v1 against sp (silence/stun), boomie (instant spells pushback and instant cast WG), mages (counterspell), lock (pet interupt/fear), hunters (both hunt and pet pushback/pet stun/FD)… only way ele is good if we can free cast, which is never against skilled/smart players

the problem is the mage can function as good as other classes and choose either fire/arc/frost yet has a backup button if things go bad. arcane surge should of have had a build based around it, not given for free, big F up.

This…is exactly how a caster should be, and that’s why elemental should stay the way they are. It’s always been this way in PvP, the tankier hard caster that will kill people with a well timed and executed combo.

Arcane Surge on the other hand… if it’s going to stay like it is, at least make it a very high risk spell.

Thankfully this is just a wet dream of yours, sadly you don’t get how those three are nothing alike SP/old Starsurge.

This is how it is right now. People complain about elemental as it does do very strong burst - but dont understand that that only happens if you ignore the elemental who is standing 19yards from you hardcasting. Most half-decent players dont ignore the elemental, who conveniently had to get close in the first place, and just turn around to slap him in 5sec completely shutting down everything they can do to you.

Right now I cannot think of any class who categorically would get rekt by elemental in 1v1. Sure, you can be outplayed by said elemental. In a very marginal case where they get 2x Power Surge procs with back-to-back Flame Shock ticks (Chance of that happening is less than 1%) you might get rekt with instants.

Just Cc/interrupt. More worried about undying ench! Feels like hitting A wall!

If ele can stand there and slap out those 1 k lava burst and spam his spells its over

If you lose against pretty much anything, it sounds like a skill issue
