I took the quest Warchief’s Command: Jade Forest!
But General Nazgrim is missing.
Google and forums don’t give accurate information. Some people say it’s a matter of phases, but I can’t figure it out.
Two general rules:
- When the game seems to not be working right, the first thing you check is addons.
- When you can’t find a thing or character who is supposed to be there, the first thing you suspect is phasing.
Orgrimmar and Stormwind are notorious for having characters appear and disappear depending on what quests you are on, since quest progress can put you in a different phase. In most areas, thie is not much of a problem, because you are proceeding through a zone quests phase, and will be shown the right one.
But in the capitals, so many quest chains intersect that the consequences can be unpredictable.
The comments on the quest

Had trouble getting with a new character there as Nazgrim “cinematic” wouldn’t trigger when I entered the building. What worked for me was abandoning the war campaign main quest. Once I abandoned it, the inside of Grommash Hold would reset with all the NPCs and spawn Nazgrim and his event trigger.
Make sure you finish the intro quests after leaving the tutorial island. For example abandoning “An Urgent Meeting” will make Nazgrim phase out until you’ve completed it.
Another comment from Dragonflight says it was a bug. I actually remember that bug. I expect it’s fixed now.
Try clearing your quest log of EVERYTHING except this quest.
Yes, I read all this from wowhead.
And I deleted all the quests, it didn’t help.
I did a relog, it didn’t help.
And if the question is in the phases, then that’s why I wrote to this forum, because maybe someone understands which phases can cause similar problems.
To reset phases, you sometimes need to leave Orgrimmar, relog, and re-enter.
If you have already Abandoned all other quests, and are not eligible for some other quest chain, then if you are phased, it is some kind of bug.
What other quests did you Abandon? If it was a starter quest for some other expansion, then you might have to re-take it and follow it through until you get to that expansion and the phasing for that quest chain resets.
You could also try checking the portal to Pandaria in the Portal Room and see whether you can pick on the Jade Forest quest chain there.
Since there are so many interactions of phases in Orgrimmar, I don;t think anybody could definitively say which is affecting you just from Nazgrim’s absence.
General Nazgrim appeared.
This happened after the following:
- I started doing the Twilight Highlands storyline
- I took the quest Saurfang Will be Pleased, but there was no NPC
- I read on wowhead that you need to complete the quest A People in Need of Healing for Saurfang to appear
- in the process of completing it, Thrall gives me his heartstone, I teleport to Orgrimmar, where I find both Saurfang and General Nazgrim
