Can't find my old character

Hi,
Was playing a while ago but wanted to get back in it again, but when I got in all my characters were gone, and i can’t access the other account (wow1), its been locked.

Is there any way i can get the char back?

Best regards,
Hummg

You would need to find out why the account was locked. If it’s a hack then you can get it unlocked.

You would do both via a ticket, you cannot be helped on the forums.

I’ve been trying to get in contact/start a ticket for 2 days without anyone replying to my messages, and they don’t appear under “my tickets”, so I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or whatever.
I’ve seen a similar post as this, and they helped him, and quite frankly this is the last resort.

Thanks for reply!

Sounds like you aren’t submitting them as they should be under active or archived tickets, and you don’t need more than one, anyway, to try to unlock your account, it needs to be via a ticket.

Hello Hummg,

A great first step when looking for older characters would be to start the item restoration process, which should give you a list of all available characters and their realms.

Oh, thanks!

I cant’t restore any items, but I found all my characters
Were alot more than I expected, lol.
Is there any way I can get the orc warrior on mograin back to the current account?
Can’t seem to find a way to restore the character any way?
Seems to be on a cataclysm server, but I’ve never played cataclysm.

Hummg

That character would never have changed accounts as you could never change a characters account in Classic.

The Classic Vanilla realms moved on to TBC then Wrath and now Cataclysm realms.

You had to choose to move to Classic Era (Vanilla) realms.

I don’t know exactly how it works. But I wasn’t playing when vanilla moved on, and I can’t find any information in my mail of having to choose to stay in classic (might have deleted it as I was not active at that time).
I can still see my lvl 70 characters from vanilla, but it’s not the oldest characters I’m looking for, I’m looking for the one I played on 4 years ago, when classic re-launched.
And for some reason all my characters were on a server/account (?) that’s called wow1, which I can’t access because it’s locked, and the other option is totally cleared of characters. Don’t know if I explain in well enough, but I’m doing my best.

This is how it happened:

  1. Classic started 1-60
  2. Those realms became TBC 1-70, and during the whole of TBC you could activate on TBC 1-70 or Classic Era 1-60 or pay to be on both.
  3. Those TBC realms became Wrath realms and that chance to copy to both left.
  4. Any character not moved or copied was moved to Wrath realms automatically.
  5. Blizzard closed some Wrath realms and all those characters got moved to Mograine.
  6. Cata started.

Characters that where on different accounts, ie Locked accounts or inactive, had number 4 and 5 happen.

Blizzard have never allowed anyone to move characters off banned accounts in any version of the game. Also Vanilla was not level 70, only up to 60.

That was never sent, a mistake on Blizzards part.

I don’t get why you didn’t activate the WoW1 account and not another one. By locked do you mean Banned? Locked is not the same.

Okey, I have no idea why or how this happened.
I got two options when choosing to play world of Warcraft classic, live.
Game version and account, game version I can choose between classic cats classic and wow.
Then I presume it’s the account selection the other part, there I have 2 options?
I have no idea why or how, but the one I have ALL my old characters on, says “account locked”.
So it’s suspended or banned, and if that’s the case I would REALLY want to know what I could have done wrong. What I know I have never done anyone wrong, always had a blast playing wow.

But still confused why I have 2 accounts to choose between.

And what happens when you try to log into the “account locked” account? That should tell you why the account is locked. Or you can look at account settings at the top of this page to see information about your locked account.

I will say it one more time, locked may not mean banned, there are security locks too.

You obviously recently created a new one.

Hi again,

You’ve been very helpful Dottie, thanks a lot for your tips and such.

I do feel a bit stupid for not trying to log in on the locked account, and I eventually got my ticket placed, and they helped me to unlock it for me, so far so good.
Eager to get to play my warrior I didn’t get to see him, and was not able to restore him either.

And after a couple of messages back and forth with GM’s (which I must say has been very helpful and delightful to talk to, every single one of them), I get a message that they are unfortunately not able to help me with this matter, and informs me to post here for the developer team to see, so I thought I’d try to write from the heart, even tho English is not my first language, I hope I get the feeling right.

I do feel a great matter of disappointment how this matter has played out, I’ve been a pure World Of Warcraft Classic player. From the first memories starting to play with friend back in -05, being mocked at for choosing a troll priest (lol). To leveling up knowing nothing about anything, no leveling addons, no knowledge of mounts, professions etc, to ending up with hardcore raiding with 39 people from various places in the world, till late into the night, hiding from parents because it was school the day after.
The feeling from downing Ragnaros, Onyxia and nefarian is still to this day one of the greatest memories I have. The countless wipes in AQ40 was awesome in its own way.
To flex in school when you got that benediction and even greater, the robe of transcendence, a receipt that you in fact had killed nefarian (at the time I was so sad because I lost the head of transcendence the boss before).

To get back to my disappointment, back then you didn’t have an option to stay in classic, you had to follow everybody into the portal to the burning crusade, where 10man raids were the new normal, the decision was forced upon you, and I get that, new games is a must to evolve, we didn’t have a choice.
I stuck around till 70, tried to raid the 10 (or was it 15-20man?), but that was never the same.
But when classic re-launched I immediately got that feeling back, to do that hard struggling to get to 60, start grinding bis gear and eventually raiding (even if I never was going for that hardcore raiding again), this was the times I missed.
But this time, I can understand the merging servers and such, I’m fully aware that things had to be done to keep the game going, but to force characters along to new servers, making them none restoreable, to players that never even had the intentions of buying cataclysm, that’s where the disappointment and sadness hits me, I do feel like I’ve been wronged here.
I would understand if it was the other way around, that the character got stuck, and I actively had to even pay for a move to cataclysm, then it’s my choice. And if it’s as Dottie states above, without even a notification to the accounts that we have to do an active choice, that saddens me even more.

Nonetheless, I’m an old dude now, I don’t have the time to compete as I did back in the day, but it would be a blast to be able to get back to the character whenever I felt for it, and not be forced to play a totally different game.

But if the character can’t be moved back into classic, I think my gaming days are over, and I’d like to wish all the friends & foes I’ve had the pleasure to play/meet with all the best in life! It has always been a blast of fun!

To those who read all, hope I didn’t bore you out.

Best regards,
Hummg
