Wanted to get back into wow and needed to install the game and I can’t no matter what I do I can’t install retail world of warcraft no matter what I do if it an issue with retail at the moment that they haven’t realised because I can install Hearthstone Wow classic and Wow WOTKC so the issue isn’t on my side i believe any advice its just stuck on initializing
Nobody can help you if you don’t tell what’s wrong. Error mesages? At what point the installation fails? How it fails?
my bad added it but its just stuck on initializing loop left it on overnight to see if it would go in the back ground but no
In the same boat (clean install) and spent a good couple of hours yesterday trying all the various fixes I could find in forums. I’m pretty sure this must be a bug in their retail code at this point (other games download fine). Everything on my PC is up to date and running W11. Done a complete reinstall of battlenet (removed all files/folders) and classic installs and runs fine - problem is only the retail build.

Possibly managed to get this past the initializing stage…
In the following location are two folders containing the executables and a bunch of dlls for launching either classic or retail. (retail and classic) (forum is removing the underscores)
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft
I deleted the retail folder entirely and copied the classic folder. Renamed the copy to retail and relaunched battlenet as admin. Did a scan and repair but it was still stuck on initializing.
Then went into the retail folder and deleted everything while it was still in this state. After a few seconds it started filling up the folder again and has kicked off the download now.
Same here. Haven’t been able to play for several days, because of it.
