Can't kill Explosives with Chimera Shot

Anyone else have this problem? I’m not talking about the cleaving part of it. When I target an explosive orb it won’t cast anything when trying to Chimera shot. Obviously I made sure I had enough focus, etc. At first I thought it was just an animation bug because sometimes they were dying but I think that was just the auto shot killing them.

Does regular Arcane Shot work?

Yes I had to re-spec to aimed shot for this week, because Chimera Shot Fires two projectiles which is considered AoE by the system, and AoE spells cannot hit explosives.
