Can't level in Cataclysm zones?

Hiya

I might be being very dumb here, sorry, but I started a new alt (Horde) and it looks like you don’t actually get to level in Cata zones.

If you select the Cataclysm timelime from Chromie, you don’t get to level in Hyjal/Vash’jir/Deepholm/Uldam and Twilight Highlands. You just get The Barrens etc. I know those zones were revamped in that expansion, but come on. That seems a bit, off.

I was looking forward to revisiting those zones but there’s no way I can The Barrens or Ashenvale again. I just can’t. :frowning:

You get to level in the Cata zones too - once your character level is high enough. Remember that the old level requirement was 80, so the new requirement might be lvl 30 or 35?

So I have to do 20 levels of the same old Kalimdor zones first? That’s not really as advertised is it?

I can start Outland, Northrend, Legion, WoD and BfA content at 10, but for Cata zones you need to be 30?

Yes, old Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom zones (which all got rebrushed in Cata). Don’t ask me why, but it is a somewhat scaled continuation of the pre-squish level requirements.

Well, I guess I’ll pick a different timeline then.

I was so excited about being able to level an alt in each timeline so I can experience them all again properly, and not have to trudge through the exact same levelling experience on Kalimdor/EK. Shame! :frowning:

The issue with cata zones is that some of them just require you to have flying. And I’m not talking about convenience here.

Twillight Highlands for example had a quest requiring me to get to a flying island.

What you can do is level to 30 in your preferred expansion and then go back to chromie and switch to the cata storyline.

also Deepholm and that flying ship with Mylra on board, unreachable without flying.
