I’ve had this problem for a while now and can’t seem to find a fix for it anywhere. Anyone with the same issue or a fix perhaps?
Right click on the channel’s tab eg. general, and click “make interactive” from the drop down menu that appears.

It was already set to Interactive. 
Are you using any chat addons that maybe affecting it? Turn off all your addons and go one by one until you find the problem.
Also, and I say this with respect. You are shift-clicking the item into an open chat window, right?
