Cant login on starter edition

Hello guys,

Hope you can help me… I havent played WoW for like 2 years, but my friend asked today if we should try classic for fun.
I logged in to my old account, and toggled a starter edition to my old account.
But every time i try connecting while logged in on wow1(starter edition) it says: Active game time is required to play wow classics ???
I dont wanna pay 14 euro, if my friend drops out, or i dont feel like playing wow after all.

Access to WoW Classic is only available to players with gametime. Just as the message you are getting tells you. You cannot play Classic with a Retail starter edition.
