I took a break and now I wanna return back to wow but when I tried to do payment with my same old method of visa debit card; I am getting error message “some payment method isnt accepted.” Its same method and card I used for years.
I had contacted bllizard EU CS but they are giving same generic answers, try deleting catche, unblock ad blocker and so on. Regardless I did all they asked knowing this isnt gonna help at all. At the end they concluded that its your bank problem.
I also tried paypal. I linked my card and bank with PayPal but still same error when I tried to do payment. Contacted paypal customer care but they are kind of clueless just like any Indian call center. I didnt got any help from there - they told me merchant(blizzard) dont accept debit card however blizzard accept both.
I googled it and found actual reason why it is happening?
Reserved Bank of India made new rules regarding REOCCURRING TRANSACTION like monthly wow subscription. Due to this any international merchant need to link with bank so customer can set up “e mandate” to pay international site like netflix, google, facebook ads, blizzard etc.
Asked bank - bank told me we cant help unless Blizzard come to us and register so we can set up emandate for you.
Other merchants like google, netflix etc know that and done required things for payment set up but blizzard doesnt even know about that (or dont care about at all)
I dont know what to expect from forum but if Blizz CS and paypal CS couldnt helped me so I am just making these thread for awareness purpose only. Those guys are working in customer care with limited knowledge and prescribed method of customer solutions - I dont blame them.
May be people working in forum or as community manager raise this issue to payment department of blizzard. Until then I dont think any person from India can pay for sub even if we want to.
Btw I can pay for other games like SC2, D3, DI etc from same debit card. It just not possible for wow reoccurring sub.
Also if you are from India and know how to pay for WoW sub from India let me know… Much appreciated.
Are you talking about game cards? I dont understand cos i pay for 30 days at a time. There are options for 30, 60 and 90, i think, as well as the 6 month sub.
I am in the EU and it mght be different for people outside the EU.
What the OP wants is to subscribe (1st option) but can’t due card issues, but he should be able to take 2nd option. If you (Nosering) are on 30 days you’re on a subscription probably?
Thanks for making this post! I was facing the same issue in India. I did find the Game Time purchase option, but I misread it as 26 Euro for 30 days, and frantically looked for alternative methods. Seems like its going to be purchasing game time instead of a sub until Blizzard registers according to the 3-mandate (probably shouldn’t keep my hopes up :D)

We’re a group of five who have been playing this game since BFA. Till now, we had no issues with the subscription payments, be it 1/3/6 months. I guess because of the changes made by the Reserve Bank of India, my credit card stopped working and so is the case with my friends.
I doubt Blizzard will comply with the e-mandate set by RBI. The game isn’t officially available to us. So… ~
