Cant play WoW, motion sickness part 2, possible solution - feedback

Hello,

Due my account being inactive, I cant post on general forums. Would someone be so kind and repost this there. So this can get as much attention as possible. Would be very nice of you.

It all started back in WoD when some changes were made to the game. I started to experience headaches, head tension and slight loss of balance.
This was getting worse and worse the more I played. So I was forced to quit. In late WoD I decided to play Vanilla WoW where I dont get these health issues at all. Something was different.

I tried to come back from time to time to see if there is any improvement, none. But I still played Vanilla without any of these problems at all.

Then I came back in Legion to try it out, legion was not so bad but it wasnt great either. However these problems started again. Just when I log in and look at the game I start to feel tension which in longer period of time turns in to headaches followed with very slight loss of control, MOTION SICKNESS.

So naturally I quit again even while having some fun with the game, playing my characters. These issues just prevent me from playing the game.

When it comes to health issues, I wont stop solving it until I find solution and I think I found it.
You see when I play Vanilla wow 1.12 the game feels relaxed, more flat than retail and smooth just when I look at it.
Today I made 2 pictures from same spot, same camera distance and angle with same character model, but from different version of the game to see whats the different. What could possibly cause these problems while playing.

////imgur.com/a/uPqjWtk
///imgur.com/a/EPxtl5P This one shows what is different on those 2 screens.

On these pictures you can clearly see that on retail picture there is more of the surrounding world in the field of view of that character can see than its on vanilla wow picture. Shows more of everything around. Thatis FoV.

And thats exactly the problem why I cant play WoW and very likely lot of other people. I found that other people were complaing about motion sickness for last couple of years. Other people had or still have this problem with the game and were forced to quit just like I was.

I would like this to get as much attention as possible so we could maybe get and FoV slider - customizable option. WoW really could use some veriety. However my account is inactive and I cant post on general forums for people to see it. I did submitted it via ingame on my starter character for devs to see, but no sure if thats enough.

Thank you very much. I really want to play again, but because of this I cant.

A friend with some form of motion sickness found they had a similar issue starting sometime in Legion/BfA as well.

For them, it helped to enable the custom UI scale and crank it up close to where the UI’s size used to be. It might help with some of the widened-FoV induced headache until there’s a better fix from Blizzard.

Here’s where you can edit it:

Thanks, but unfortunaly its not the case. For me it doesnt matter how big or small the UI scale is, but the Field of View.
The field of view has significantly changed and there is causes motion sicknes.

A simple option how to change this into player’s liking would be just enough.

Maybe a silly question, but… have you tried lowering the graphics settings? Including view distance, texture details. Thought that may help, considering you can play the Vanilla version of the game just fine.

Or just reduce view distance to 1 (no need to reduce everything else if view distance is the problem).

As others have said. View distance 1, minimal graphics, and also pop the resolution scale from 100% to about 75%, and if that doesn’t help, 50% with a continual lowering until it becomes manageable. Playing in windowed mode rather than full screen might also help, v-sync on, with anti-aliasing set to none as well.

Play around with graphics settings, and possibly ask a GM for help outside of the game as well (if it’s possible to outside of the game) if nothing helps/works. The team are usually very helpful and understanding with issues like this.

Thank you all for your answer, however none of you is right. Field of View is something that has nothing to do with view distance, minimal graphics system or resolution. No matter how it is set up, the field of view stay the same because there no way how to change it in this game. Other games have it.

Thats why I have posted this, to make it visible and perhaps devs will give customization in this matter.

Just a general question: Are you able to play other games without any problem?

Ofc. I can play any other games where the FoV is set to normal, for example Vanilla WoW 1.12 version. Same game just but older version where the FoV is different as prove the pictures in the imgur “link”.

This motion sicknes from FoV is common known issue. What is uncommong that World of Warcraft retail does not have FoV slider option where players can customize it to their liking, decrease or increase it. In my case I would need decrease it.
Because everybody is not the same, everybody have different needs. Its individual.

Its not just me. Iv been going throuh this many evenings and found that other people suffer from the same thing.
But I also found that some people suffer from bright colors, camera shaking, too big/small UI scale or get eyes strain. Which I for example dont experience at all.

If You Get Motion Sickness Stop Moving
