Back years ago we did this:
- Have a friend throwing a bucket to you
- Work from the bottom to the top of the buildings
I havent faced this problem luckily on any of my attempts while doing it with others
I gave up on trying to do this quest, it’s just useless.

Well i tried to tell people either do inn first or blacksmith first but barelly anyone listened some even a group of furries blocked the water barrel and refused to move so we coulen’t acess it.
The event is definitely bugged, and has been for years…
I used to SOLO this in the area left of Silvermoon, smallest area with very little running to do…
But now it takes like 5+ buckets to put out one patch of fire, for it to spread before you’re done with another patch.
Just avoid. Blizz cba fixing it. Seems Blizz thinks we’d have a 40m raid to do it at all times or something…

Maybe that’s why i prefere private servers or even the unthinkable. Going outside and having fun
I think it’s bugged on occasion. I’ve thrown the buckets at fires and it’s had no impact. Ive did the same and it’s put out the fires.
A bit weird but I noticed with the old animation of fires on the buildings used to go out rather fast. Since they updated the fire animation on the buildings seems like it takes forever to extinguish a single patch of fire.
