Cant recover deleted characters

So since time thing pandaria i cant recover my characters - is it only me or anyone else ?

Character Restoration was shut off before 11.0 with no date for return.

They said the reason was due to a warbank related issue, which I don’t really believe. I think they’ve actually broken something and are trying to recover all the deleted character data before they publicly state “Sorry guys, but we screwed up and all your deleted characters are gone!”.

After the pre-expansion update*

Anyway it’s still disabled with an undetermined future return date.

yes but they cannot say " we will be disabling character restoration for a time beginning with the launch of The War Within™ pre-expansion content update." and then not give update on it … its not ok to leave people in dark…

The latest update is that there is no timeframe, which is the same information I have at the hand:

Bfa azerite amor is the bomb, shame blizzard just neefed the heart of azeroth as the neck extra slots are only useable now in bfa areas only

I just find it weird that so many people delete toons only to want them back. You have 50 character slots. Theres no way you use all of them.

Imagine deleting your character xdDD

…
IDK.
There are 2 reasons

  1. you reached character cap
  2. you no longer “like” the char.

1st means - you didn’t really need the char - no one can really “play” 50 chars or whatever the cap is - playing 50 chars for 20 mins each would take you like 16 h and you would do NOTHING XD

  1. ok, this is something I don’t get at all - you can just… not play the character? I too have some unused low level char I never intend to play but what is the point of deleting - on one or two occasions it was even ad hoc useful.
“keeping character sheet clean??” man, move the char to the bottom of character list - you prolly won’t even see the name when you log your mains as a result.

Don’t delete characters
Don’t create characters up to cap

Its not a storage, but shame if people cant use return function afterwards if they have second thoughts ofc :dracthyr_a1:

There’s several points of deleting characters

  1. Character limit reached yet you want to try out that new race or a new race/class combination.
  2. You used a name on a character you decided not to actually take further but you want it on another character. Deleting the first and restoring it later is basically a free name change. Even if you have no intentions of restoring the character later, deleting the original one is legit to free up the name.
  3. Human emotion. Perhaps the character was nerfed to the ground and the character owner got so upset that they didn’t decide to shelf the character but get rid of it entirely.

There’s more reasons but those are the ones that sprung up in my mind right away.

And please pray tell why not?

I deleted a mage to recreate it in remix with the Theramore tabard. However, I didn’t know the achievement would become account wide in TWW and now I can buy the tabard on any character. So I want my mage back since I did Northrend and BFA loremaster on that one and it has some sentimental value.

Yes I was going to do it all again on the new mage but now that I can have the old one with the tabard I prefer that option.

at least so you don’t run into such issues.

I explained in my post why it’s silly - re-read it until you understand.

The free name change might be somewhat fun of a reason but it’s kinda silly.

Imo Blizzard should allow 1 name change per character or something every 2 years for like 20 thousand gold - to prevent constant abuse and allow without paying 10 euro if you actually can use the deleting to do it for free.

Also, it Feels like some sort of exploit too.

Work on your emotions - there is no virtue in being weak and falling prey to despair.

That is true.

Why you personally think its silly. I respectfully disagree with your opinion.

Again that is your opinion. One I do not share.

That is because it is an exploit.

I will as long as you work on realizing that your personal opinion is not the be all and end all. Plenty of people see it differently not only in this thread but other’s who touch on this subject. Neither party is wrong but you come off as if you think your opinion is the only valid one. That may not be your intention but that is how you come across. Strongly so.

That sounds a whole lot like moral relativism.

I don’t do that, lass.
