Can't restore a deleted character because its name is now unavailable

Hi all!

The title means
“Can’t restore a deleted character, because someone else on another account but on the same server has now named his/her character the name of the deleted character you want to restore”

I restored a deleted character in Burning Crusade Classic, and now afterwards, I start worrying
“What if someone else on the same server had taken the name of that deleted character I want(ed) to restore?”

I was lucky though. The name of the deleted character I restored had NOT been taken by someone else, but I’m worried anyway, IF I had been unable to restore that deleted character of mine because someone else had taken its name, had a GM then been able to help me out, when name change isn’t available in Vanilla Classic and Burning Crusade Classic? I mean, I would have changed the name of my deleted character in order to be able to restore it, if its name had been taken by someone else on the same server.

Do I get to the point? If so, thanks for responce.

Kind regards,
Kaffejoel

Hey there Kaffejoel,

Generally speaking if a name of a deleted character of yours is taken by another account, the character would still be restorable, but you would need to change the name on it.

That being said the in-game support, looks at this on a case by case basis, so if for some reason you are unable to restore a character, when you normally should be able to, please reach out to the support for assistance.

If you reuse the name then that message comes up, if someone else uses it you get a free rename.

Then you can’t use it and have to choose something else. It’s no longer your name but theirs.

One responce to all your responces to this topic:

Great, thank you so much. Especially thanks for Blizzard’s responce. Then I don’t have to worry.

Kind regards,
