Can't restore a deleted character unless I remove the character with that current name

Hey,

As the title says.
I want to restore a druid, give it a make over and a name change but I can’t restore it because my Warlock has the same name.
is there any work around or do I first have to buy a name change for my warlock, then let me restore my druid and then buy a name change for my druid in order to name change my warlock back to its original name?

Essentially this unfortunately. As per the support article here: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/106784

welp that sucks, it would’ve made sense if they forced you to buy a name change, but to go through this process…
anyway seems like I have to level my druid to 110 again.

thank you for the answer.

What would I do? Delete the warlock, restore the druid, change the name, wait 15 days then restore the warlock.

Not ideal but you actually get what you want.

Blizzard should add an option to rename the character while deleted.

welp thats an option as well!
I might even do that, I won’t lose anything regarding the warlock then right?
since its even better geared then my main (paladin)

I have a feeling I’ve read a post recently to say that’s not possible any more. You wouldn’t be able to restore the warlock without buying a name change … of course I can’t find the post so hopefully someone could confirm in the morning.

I was already planning to buy a name change anyway for the druid.
but it just sucks that you can’t do that directly at the restore page.

let us restore a character with the same name but then force us to buy a name change or something.

now the fast and expensive way is > name change warlock > restore druid > name change druid > name change warlock back…

Just out of pure curiosity - how would that work if the character name was taken by another player ?

You are forced to rename it for free, but the name is locked to an account for a short amount time, a month or two.
