I’ve played WoW for a short while now (Retribution Paladin lvl 37) and I’m trying to finish the campaign of my class hall. When it comes to the mission that requires me to get an item from the violet hold dungeon I always get almost one shotted even though the enemies are all on my level. Am I doing something wrong?
All expansions and scale with us now. I presume that’s why you don’t truly outlevel it for now.

pretty much what Puny said. you gotta queue via lfd for it as you cant solo the dungeon. the world will scale with you until you reach level 50.
You may be able to do this with the help of a friend though.
So soloing dungeons isn’t doable until level 50?
Ideally you wait until later, or get a friend to go with you or use the Dungeon finder tool, providing you are in the right Chromie levelling time.
Does that mean that searchign for better gear is futile until lvl 50 too?

the equip you wear does not scale with you so if you wait long enough, you ll eventually become weaker.
tbh i wouldnt explicitly search for new gear. the gear you get while questing/dungeoneering is usually enough to get you to level 50.
Generally I wouldn’t feel confident about soloing a dungeon because “the enemies are all on my level”. Dungeon mobs are typically elites, and bosses way tougher than your standard elite on top of that.

Dungeons are designed for five players to do. The standard group is one tank (Prot Pally, Guardian Druid and similar specs), one healer (Holy Pally, Resto Shammy or similar specs) and three damage dealers.
The tank takes the hits from the bad guys, the healer keeps the tank alive and the others kill the bad guys. A very simple way of looking at it.
You can solo these dungeon when you out-level them. For Legion you’d likely need to be near level 50 to solo them.
If you can’t wait until you’re 50 (which is reasonable) then you’ll need help.
Either a full group of players around the same level as you or find someone higher level (like full on max level 60 would be best) to carry you through it.
Is it safe to assume that it applies for all of the other expansions except shadowlands?
No. They each have their own max level.
I think up to Wrath is 30. Cata and MOP are 35, WOD is 40 and Legion is 45, BFA is 50. I may be wrong as I don’t do a lot of grouped content these days.

because i am running dungeons just fine with my druid and actually did yhat dungeon few days ago at lvl 35
This is correct, and is basically the answer you are looking for, Wrstpallieva. You need to level up to about 50 and get gear with ilvl from BfA at least. (ilvl 87+)
We have two Violet Hold-dungeons, one in WotLK-Dalaran scaled to lvl 30 and one in Legion Dalaran scaled to lvl 45.

that i did not know , not really played mutch after wotlk . just started playing back now after playing some classic and since i pay sub i tought gonna play retail aswel but sl was not my cup off tea started a new toon playing from start locked my char at 35 soo i could do all dungeons at normal lvl by myself untill i move to mop and unlock it for a few lvl and do there the same etc.
So I can do it in the wotlk instance?
You should be capable of doing the WotLK version, but keep in mind that class hall quests from Legion only applies to Legion content and Legion dungeons. You won’t get any progress on your quests by doing the WotLK version.
