Ill admit, the intro was pretty cool and it was like I was in a dream
But damn if I dont hate the questing. You cant go 2 meters without someone asking for your help «please help»
Like wtf, how did the realm even function before i came since they seem to need my help for absolutely everything. Atleast in maldraxxus and Bastion you were fighting along side the chosen/kyrians during most of the quests
I have to fix all their problems while playing notice me senpai with the winter queen. It really makes me want to burn another tree

I’m pretty sure Arthas already did that to your Mother tree, Thas’Alah
I loved levelling there, I hate the dailies. Too many fill the bar quests.
The zone is beautiful.

I almost love the zone. Music is occasionally exceptional, beyond this world. Art is generally lovely.
But the mobs are boring and annoying, there are too many cliffs and crevices, and I’m not a fan of the cutesy fairies. I also think they went a bit overboard with the glowy stuff. Everything is better in moderation, and they did a much better job at this back in Vanilla with Ashenvale.

Well you can choose not to help those in need so they will be either killed or saved by someone else from Ardenweald. I mean when you quest there you see a lot of Night fae getting killed or turned drust. Also they are in middle of draught and drust uprising. Also gorm eating everything in sight.
That said Ardenweal is my favorite zone.
its a furrys wet dream , also cant stand the voice of lady moonberry.

Ardenweald covenant ability, “Wild Spirits” is so damn nice for my favorite hunter spec MM. Nothing else comes close. I hated Ardenweald first with all it’s joy and laughter and yibbee! Squirells and sugar plums but I got used to it in the end. Just keep a “throw up” bucket by your side when you’re overwhelmed with all the gayness and friggen furries.

One thing that has confused me about Ardenweald
You see how the souls in other places actually help the zones whether with anima or even fighting for them as they arrive…
Why do the souls in Ardenweald have to be tended like they’re going to break apart at any minute?
Does tending to nature make you that much of a wuss in the afterlife?

Zone is great , contents of it are hell of a cringe imo.

The zone was alright, but it’s not my favorite. I only chose the Night Far covenant on my main Warlock, because the ability works best with Affliction.
Let’s say, Revendreth and Bastion are my preferences, with Ardenweald being 3rd and I hated Maldraxxus questing.
I myself can’t stand Bastion…

How is a realm inspired by kids’ fairytales “gay”? What the… happened to your childhood?

This sums it up for me.
I really loved the original Teldrassil, Ashenvale, Feralas and Aszhara. Fantastic zones that had good visuals and gave me a feeling of being in ancient magical forests with tons of mystery.
Ardenweald just fails at every aspect of that. Zone feels tiny, like a sandbox. Colour palette is good, but I’m also not huge on overdoing flashy and glowing stuff. I still think the zone is pretty, but could have been toned down on the glowing details indeed.
My biggest gripe however, is how extremely whimsical the whole zone gets. It takes away focus from the serious bits of the questlines for me, and the zone end up feeling shallow and lacking on story. It might sound odd, but “My husband” is a voice line that goes on repeat in my head constantly when thinking of the zone, said with this really forced voice acting. I do not even know if it actually was a voice line for it, I just hear it in my head. The fairies just don’t work for me either, for the same reason as the “My husband voice line” I keep getting repeated in my head. It is too much. Too much whimsical feel to it. I just wish they would have kept some of the faires to have more serious and normal voices, and then just have a very selected few(1-2 fairies) to be those whimiscal ones. That would have helped my impression at least.
Same with the focus on Thiernax relationship. It got way too much focus, and distracted me from the campaign story which I do remember was about Tyrande. It just ruined it. I keep seeing this horse getting annoyed upset that his husband for poking his history as a night warrior. I guess I got that part of the story? I cringed however. That’s all on me though, I am just sharing why Ardenweald didn’t work for me.
I think maybe if the theme of the story wasn’t as overly focused on being funny/whimsical, I would have felt like the zone looked better too? I think when a zone has that type of artstyle, it really needs serious content to tone down the overall impression of the zone, but maybe that is just me. Otherwise it just end up feeling like a theme park trip. My opinion! I am not saying everyone hates the zone, I was just very disappointed as I had high expectations to a zone I felt had major connections to the Nightelves and druidism(not saying that is the case, but it does sort of look like it based on the parts of the story I did take note of).

It might be a reference to that part of the gay culture that overly focus on pushing their voices into a more feminine tone. I can totally see the relation, as I know a couple of those gay men, and also heard it on TV etc. It’s nothing wrong with it, but in my case the zone overall feels far too dominated by this way of talking. I suggested in my post above this one that I wish they kept most of the faires to have more common voices(I did say normal, but I guess that’s not really the word for it), and that they just kept 1-2 of them to this “whimsical” theme. It’s a voice style that I think pretty much solely men can create. Like a manly voice with a female/feminine touch to the accent. It is really hard to explain, but I do not think a woman can recreate that style for the simple reason of our voices being biologically different. Unless you are really good at controlling voice sounds/creating voices with your base voice.
Or, maybe you just don’t see the same pattern as I do, and that you see another. We all have our own impression of things.

Ardenweald is the worst zone of Shadowlands. Its far too airy fairy for me. I do respect the role it serves in the game and the reasons why people do enjoy it.
I am upset the Covenant thing isn’t relaxed a little and one of my mains is forced to be Night Fae because it’s BiS and it has ruined the feel of the game for me a little. However my other main is Kyrian and they’re pretty cool, so it makes up for it.
Overall Maldraxxus and Necrolords has been by far the most enjoyable experience in Shadowlands. It’s the only zone where I feel like I’m in the Warcraft universe.
Yeah, I enjoyed the questing there. I liked Bwosandi and Ysera stuff. I also liked the Midsummer’s Night Dream theme. I like how they can do lighter stuff and darker stuff at the same time. The last few expansion had little by way of humour, WoW used to have a lot more humour in the past.
But the WQs aren’t fun. I pretty much only do the challenge one now (same with Bastion).
