Cant turn on ray tracing

I cant turn on Ray Tracing. I have the latest windows update and also the latest graphics card drivers. But the option is grayed out. It says “unsupported for graphical related reasons”. I have a GTX 1660 super. Is anyone else having this issue? Help would be appreciated.

There was a thread about this a week or so back.

Apparently Bliz decided only to permit raytracing on actual RTX cards due to the performance hit non-RTX cards will take.

Oh! Okay that explains it! Im a noob when it comes to graphics card so I would not know. I have the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 super. Sorry for another question but is RTX another model of GPUs? hehe

Oddly enough, I’ve got an RTX2070 Super and it still won’t let me turn it on.

Have you upgraded Windows 10 to the very latest 2004 version? I believe that is required.

Windows up to date, drivers up to date and it still wont let me.’

Strange!

What card are you using? It must have native hardware support for raytracing, not software.

Hi all.

Same problem here: RTX2070 and updated to the latest driver, DX12 + full windows update.

Ray tracing shadows option in advanced gives me: “Unsupported for graphics related reasons.”

Same here guys,
using a 2070, everything is up to date, but the option still appears grey with this message “Unsupported for graphics related reasons.”

anything i google, is either update or people tell you to double check if your gpu supports ray tracing. Im well aware what i bought during the launch of the 2070 lineup :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope we find a solution for this guys!

Are you running Windows 10 version 2004 or newer?

i can not get ray-tracing either and my rtx 2080 ti drivers is up to date. the problem here is that they require a windows build where they removed ray-tracing. i once updated to the latest build and no games worked so, i went back to an old build. guess that until they choose to support earlier windows builds, ray-tracing will not work. i am also not going to play world of warcraft without ray-tracing, not a chance.

Thanks for the laugh.

ray-tracing is more important to me than playing world of warcraft, that is how it is. i do not want to play a game that supports ray-tracing, without it.

But its only the shadows that are ray-traced in WoW. None of the other 3D assets are.

So you’re quitting WoW over… A shadow. Too funny!

i have not been paying for many years and i will not do so either until my character library is on level 20. i will not play at all without ray-tracing however.

Hi all has the ray-tracing been sorted out yet. i mean is there a fix as yet from any 1 or blizzard?

What fix you mean?

Ray Tracing in WoW have the following requirements:

  • GPU with DirectX Raytracing Tier 1.1 support.
  • Windows 10 with 2004 version or newer, like the 20H2.
  • World of Warcraft set with DirectX12 API.
  • Updated drivers

Also if you enable, for example, a Windows 8 compatibility mode, it won’t work too.

u can’t activate because your windows 10 version is not 2004 or superior so i recomendo u to go to this webpage support microsoft and then download the Windows 10 Update Assistant and then u will get the update that u need and then u can activate the RAY TRACed shadows
this have work for me so I hope work for u guys
