Can't use group finder don't have a smart phone

Hi I don’t own a smart phone

I have physical authenticator but It won’t let me use that.

Is there any other way ? I don’t own a smart phone , I know I just said I don’t. I don’t live with anyone who owns one either. Is there anywhere do get the authenticator on my computer ?

there was a reply on another thread regarding not having a smart phone. the person suggested to download a phone app for the pc and use that. i am not sure how it works but you might want to investigate that option :slight_smile: the app was called bluestacks and he uses it to simulate a smartphone so he could use the authenticator for smartphones.

There’s WinAuth: https://github.com/winauth/winauth, and a couple of other 3rd-party authenticators that run on the PC without needing a phone emulator.

Hi there Hamuut,

As far as I’m aware a physical authenticator should work as well, though keep in mind you’ll need phone notifications as well, in case you have a regular old mobile phone.

Hello,

With the latest update, the Authenticator is mandatory to have in order to make custom groups in LFG, however, I was already using the authenticator application, even before this update, in the last couple of days, I have tried making custom LFG and I was not able to make one. It keeps sending me to the account security page. I have added my phone number, thinking it might be the cause, however, it changed nothing.

Would appreciate your help.

Instead of mocking paying customers with this autenticator how about investing in more intelligent solutions of boost protection. Just remove it… it is annoying

I don’t know why it was, Lunaera. I suggest you make another separate thread or possibly make a ticket. Stress the fact that you have the authenticator app already and you still can’t make a group.

Even worse. The Authenticator App requires a Chinese ID to login when opening the App in China, therefore it is absolutely impossible for me to actually use Authenticator. I am a Dutch expat living in China, please see my thread as well. Horrible decision by Blizzard.

It was introduced to try and reduce LFG spam from RMT sites. Whether it works or not is another question entirely. You can still use LFG to create groups without an authenticator but you will be unable to create custom descriptions for your entry.

The spam is still there ! And yes i have limited youse of LFG !

Since patch 9.1.5, only accounts that have been secured with a Battle.net Authenticator and Phone Notifications can add custom text to Group Finder listings. After you added an Authenticator and Phone Notifications, it can take up to 30 minutes for the ability to write custom text on the Group Finder to be available, and we recommend that you exit the game and log in again. This is the problem PHONE NOTIFICATIONS ! PHONE SPAM!
