I have the same issue… cant buy token and says I dont have gold to buy one which i definitely do
To anyone replying to this thread and might not be aware, this is a bug that is being looked into and there is no known ETA for a fix yet.
I also encountered the problem that my veteran account became the most standard. The funniest thing is that the same bug was a year ago.
For the second day now I can’t play WoW normally, because my character is accumulating experience, and when the bug is fixed (I hope that they will fix it, and there will not be a situation like with the bug in the Tower of Mages, where the portals broke, and a whole year has passed), then, I’m afraid, I will get level 21 on free weekends, and all the work will go to zero.
Anyone tried to buy game time with real money? I wonder if it’s safe to buy game time on account that it’s flagged like “Free Trial Account”. I don’t think that we gonna get bug fix in some time.

Chiming in here with the same issue. I don’t even see an option to use gold when on the character selection screen, only an option to be redirected to the battle.net shop and use cool cash.
Which I won’t. Guess the real ghosts of K’aresh are everyone impacted by this and unable to play…

This bug impacts like 0,05% of playerbase. They will not be in hurry. It seems like we gonna have vacation from WoW for some time.

Quite the contrary, thankfully.
No telling how long they’ll take figuring things out, but it’s a high priority issue.
I doubt we will be able to play this weekend. Let’s hope they will fix this bug at start of next week.

Haven’t played since season 1, wanted to start playing again season 3. My account is free trial and i can’t use my token…
Funny how these bugs happen right before a season launch when people are expected to come back. I bet the real money subscription solves the free trial bug instantly.

Sweet. Any news on gold still not being useable for renewal of subscriptions, or is that also being solved with rolling restarts?
The official fix for Veteran accounts (which will allow players to buy WoW Tokens again) should be active after the realm restarts.
My sub is out and I can’t buy tokens from login screen or from ingame store UI on any of my lvl 20 characters.
Says I am on a trial account. I think something is messed up, wasn’t my account supposed to be designated as VETERAN?
Something similar is happening to the F2P community as well with reports that their twinks are accumulating rest and banking on XP, which is not supposed to happen to VETERANS but only to TRIALS/F2P who have never bought or subbed to the game.

As a result of this I think the friend list is down as well. My characters are also in a guild but the whole interface and chat is restricted. I would suggest not playing such characters because there is a possibility of them unintentionally breaking through the XP lock after resubscribing, which has happened in the past.
Yes, that’s what this whole thread, and my previous responses, are about.
I would encourage these players to lock their EXP gain by talking to the NPC just in case, otherwise they may gain a level if they reactivate their account. Locking your EXP gain on a Veteran account may prevent them from queueing to a Battleground until they unlock it (after the fix), but that may be better than to accidentally level up, if they add game time on that account.

My characters have theirs locked however I’m not certain anymore about all the details as I remember some past restrictions on locking and reactivating XP gains where you couldn’t perform both actions without an active subscription.
One time a year ago the red bandana character buff (XP lock) had fallen of on its own without me noticing after a patch.
Just be careful because even exploration experience from running around could potentially ruins hours of effort.

Vet account here having the same problem, account reverted to trial edition and characters gaining XP regardless of XP lock.
