Casting my vote about #PullTheRipcord

I want to have X covenant class ability when playing Windwalker in a raid.

I want Y covenant class ability when tanking M+.

I’m sure some dungeons will benefit more from Z covenant class ability, regardless of what spec I am playing, and if I don’t have that covenant ability, then I will be less likely to be picked.

I knew this will be a problem when covenant system was announced, and it is nice to see Blizz are noticing it.

Please #PullTheCord, Blizzard. Make Covenant Class Abilities swap-able in resting zones.

I encourage everyone to look up the situation, inform yourself, and also cast your vote.

Totally disagree =)
The whole point of covenants is that they aren’t supposed to be balanced for every situation, or swappable whenever you so desire. You simply shouldn’t be able to be the best in every situation, and some people will be better than you at things at times due to their choices, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

You took something that’s good in PvP? Awesome! You might have a slightly harder time in Raiding tho, but that’s fine.
I won’t just be another Mistweaver Monk. I’ll be a [insert covenant X here] Mistweaver Monk!

People seem really hung up on the “I won’t be picked because I have the wrong covenant” part, and I really don’t see why.
Since you only need one person with the correct covenant for each dungeon, it’ll probably be more of “Last spot, need covenant Y for dungeon bonuses”.
Basically, there’s a 4/5 chance that your covenant doesn’t matter to the group whatsoever, and if that 20% chance happens, and you actually have the aligning covenant, you’ll probably even get picked over others!

The harder and more inconvenient it is to min-max, not to mention straight up impossible at times, the more lenient people will be towards those who choose not to do so, and I really don’t think that’s a bad thing.
Sure, the top 0.001% will find it a pain, because it limits their Cutting Edge progress to not being able to always have the best of the best in the best situation for everything, unless they make at least 4 equally geared characters for each class. And some might actually end up doing that.

But for the average player, it’s probably going to be awesome being able to do things that others can’t!
In terms of the M+ bonuses, I like it as well. They simply took away a small bit of the skill factor, and put it into the “choices matter” factor.
It won’t make a bad team beat a good team, but it might make a good team beat a good team.

I do agree with most you’ve have said, you are right, but you missed my main point. I wasn’t talking about a player that plays only one spec on his character, and wants to min-max to have the most advantage between Covenant Class abilities in w/e situation. I was talking about people like me, who plays 2 specs equally from my class. In raids I DPS. In M+ I tank. There is no Covenant Class ability that I can benefit from equally. Either my tanking, or my DPSing will be at disadvantage. And I know, granted there are few, but I personally know people who play DPS, tank, and a healer spec on their character. Those people will be at disadvantage 66% of the content/situations they like to play.

Perhaps PullTheRipcord should call for Covenant Class ability to be about tied to a spec instead.

I would love to be able to switch between the allrounderbuild and the combust mistweaver build in shadowlands.

the masses will always do what the 0.1% do and i dont see a good reason why i should handicap myself for 75% of the content. it doesnt even make sense for the lore. i ve played the zones, i had the ability, why do i forget it as soon as i hit lvl cap?!

Yes, this has also been brought up. Each Covenant serves its own function against The Maw, aka they work together, sort of. It makes more sense that we could somehow swap between Covenant Class ability. It’s fine, we can still chose to commit to one more than others, keep it purely a thematic, lore, and fantasy choice, and keep the Covenant Signature ability tied to the choice… but not the Class ability. This will breed problems.

I pvp, raid and m+. I will choose the PvP covenant because that’s probably the most punishing to not have and could affect my rankings quite a lot.

M+ I probably won’t push now because I would be pugging, and there would be ANOTHER condition added to make it that much harder to be accepted to a group. It really puts me off.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t fancy swapping covenant for each type of content, but I don’t want to feel constantly like I could be better off when raiding and trying to find a m+ group.

It’s kinda Blizzards fault for making what is basically a talent system difficult to change. I’d have loved it if it were just cosmetic.

A company that’s so afraid of people not playing all the content they make they force you to play parts of the game you may not want to for progression.

The same company makes signature abilites with flashy animations and stops you using 75% of them.

 I don’t understand.

Hold up… Do you actually believe in a million years that this makes sense? This has to be the dumbest thing i’ve heard in a very long time

What do you mean? You only need one person with the correct covenant for the corresponding dungeon bonus? What about it doesn’t make sense?
Also, the ripcord not being pulled confirmed by Ion! Woho!
