before patch I had a macro that looked something like
/castsequence Ascendance, [target=focus] Bloodlust, Doom Winds
the macro refuses to cast Ascendance, the other 2 parts are fine, it was working pre 10.0.5 is there something wrong now or should I do something different?

That macro is just straight up configured wrong. You can’t configure options for a single step of a sequence, only the sequence as a whole.

Weird it worked in the first place, in anycase thank you so much! 
Even if it was “working”, it wasn’t really accomplishing anything to try to cast Bloodlust on your focus, since the spell takes no target
it does with the PVP Talent Shamanism
