Casual players, how do you play?

Hi all

I am trying to take it slow and not burn myself out in the mainstream hamster wheel. I am still kind of confused, what to do with my lvl 60 main other than WQs with biggest rewards and occasional Callings (i hear it only give rep) or Torghast.

So I try to take a step back and play some other classes (alts). And sometimes do some casual PVP too.

I need some ideas and inspiration, please.

How do you play (especially your alts)? What activities do you do to keep the game fresh but also to get the most out of the game XP, item- and gold-wise?

P.S. does Engineering have fun things to offer in SL and is it worth it?

Not quite sure what you’re asking, but I don’t have much time to play so here’s what I do.

Log alt 1 and do Legion WQs (rep farming)
Log main and do Calling (unless it’s Maw, obvs) and that Ventyr anima tower rare thing. I have a list of the quickest/unbugged WQs for each zone.
If I have extra time, I’ll run some dungeons or log alt 2 and farm herbs.

Just curious to see what people are doing other than rushing best ilvl. You know, having fun and not treating it as another job

Ofc fun is subjective, so…

Also, I assume you are using World Quest List addon to find WQs and their rewards, expire time, location, etc.?

If anyone uses some other cool similar mods, please let me know

Regarding herbs: Yeah - herbing on rested xp with warmode on (xp bonus) and Darkmoon Faire (10% XP) buff in Bastion seems like a good “two birds one stone” strategy. Also using glove enchant for faster gathering.

I think it’s a to-do list however casual you are tbh. It’s that kind of expansion.

I got 2 days a week to play, 3h each day.

First day of reset I do callings and the weekly chores and whatever else I need in order to stay up to date.

Second day I just do the callings and after that I do whatever I want.

No, I just have a pen and paper and keep a manual list. It’s worth remembering that Callings usually have three days to complete so you can pick the quickest WQs each day.

Depends on what you mean by casual. Are you fine with LFD and LFR? Do you want to do low keys (+2s and maybe +4s) and clear normal Castle Nathria. Do you want to PvP? You gotta give us more details.

For now, if you don’t have enough time to play, I suggest leveling all your alts to 60 and maybe creating new ones. If you don’t plan on playing much this patch, make sure you prepare all your alts for next one. Maybe do some profession for gold. Herbalism is easy and nets you a nice sum of gold per hour. Apart from that, designate 1 char as your main and do you covenant campaign, your renown and your mission table. For the mission table, I suggest downloading the WoW companion app - it lets you send your guys on missions even if you are not ingame. You can also check world quests and see if any are up that you want to do. Lastly, you can chat with your guild mates if you want.

Well sadly endgame is only grinding for rep getting better gear etc… like the things you mentioned.

What you could try are other classes or try doing battle pets, hunting achievements or gathering transmogs trying a proffesion there are lots of other things you can do within wow.

Or you could go play/do something else entirely choice is up to you but there is choice enough

I am mainly doing rep runs and occasionally a tmog run, just depends on what I feel like on the day

Right now I’m focused on leveling 4 toons so i can have one on each covenant and keep up with the story of each one. My main is even suffering a bit for it, but thanks to the catch ups I won’t be very behind.

I buy wow tokens and mythic Castle nyalotha mount then afk on mailbox obviously

I do BGs until tired of them, then AFK in Oribos while doing non-WoW activities, hopping on if friends want to do stuff together.

On my main I do the covenant story, callings, all WQs for my covenant’s zone, covenant specific rares / treasures and Maw on daily basis. Torghast I might or might not do depending on how I’m feeling.

On my alts I tend to work on their professions, do the covenant story (I have one alt for each covenant atm) and the callings every couple of days with the excepting of whoever I fell like playing the most that day / week. That alt usually gets some dungeon and later LFR action to gear up. My main money maker is that I have enchanting on all except one of my chars so I can get tons of mats no matter which character I’m playing on (also saves me sooo much gold to be able to enchant my army myself). The one that doesn’t have enchanting is miner & herbalist.

My favorite project atm is the following (I’ll quote myself from another thread because I’m lazy);

I do my covenants emissary, 1 heroic dungeon, 1 random bg, jump into the maw, slap some mawrons up, come back, run a few laps around orbios, speak some smack in trade about how maldraxxus is best covenant in shadowlands.
/log off for the day.

Why do you think that?

I don’t use my phone for that. Is there any addon that can streamline this process? So that it automatically assigns optimal teammates for a mission?

My guild is just a “tag” - almost empty guild for the perks. I am a solo player, mostly

Suffering how?

How do those catchup mechanics work exactly?

I am currently trying to finish a Calling on my 60 lock called Rare Ressources and it is one of the most boring and frustrating things I have ever tried in WoW… even more so, when I am not even sure, that the reward would even benefit me in the long run.

Yeah, getting pretty sick of lvl 60 content

actually after dinging 60 and seeing all the grind i must do i just quit xD

I personally take it slow on WQ i figure that eventually you get everything, i did bfa during end of aszhara expansion which is pretty late and still got everything including curve in nyalotha, flying, most quests, allied races of bfa, you name it. Media makes you believe you fall behind but the truth is you just wont have anything to do in the game if you rush! And people who come late will catch up anyway so you never really ahead of anybody its an illusion.
I use to alt when i was bored of my current class, eventually i was bored of all classes, i realize that i am actually bored of playing the game and should do something else, because when i came back i enjoyed my main again, now when i feel to mindlessly alt i just close the game and watch a movie or do something else.
Now i play wow as season, raid season is my peak time of playing till i beat the raid, after that its like i retire until new peak time.
i work hard to focus on one character these days the progression feels way more rewarding than jumping around and having things half done, i hate having characters half done, it feels like im not enjoying the real goal of the game. If i want to alt i switch spec, which is why i main druid, they can do a bit of everything and to raid i just play the spec that is meta. SL got a good pace, really i just have week torgast, dungeon to do and rest is optional, you still have to do them but there is less pressure compare to bfa.
