- its un-rewarding
- it removes BiS from the game and satisfaction of achieving something is gone
- it affects the content difficulty
- should I keep going?
said who? based on what I dont need best gear in the game?

Correction, you don’t need it. When trying to do the most challenging content for me, I need the best tools I can have. And those days are gone.
Or is it another case of “I think I do, but I don’t”?
I would really like to see a clear answer from someone in the Blizzard about the question is it the raiding content created in a way that people need titanforging to down it. I have my doubts since the chance for it is so low and there are people which don’t have any titanforged item at all in the game.
I don’t know if it’s the same now but back in Cata when I mained shadow, we were hugely dependent on haste soft caps. Haste was our best secondary stat until we reached one of the haste soft caps, then it would suddenly drop down the priority list in favour of mastery and crit.
Oh I can answer that for you. It’s certainly not needed. BiS wasn’t needed either, in fact in MoP the hardest 5-man content was challenge modes - and your gear got downgraded to a max so you couldn’t get an advantage through it.
Question is, what is it needed for? Once you read the blizzard post of why it’s here to stay enough times, it will become obvious.
However BiS lists existed for Challenge Modes and sockets were a huge bonus because those didn’t count in the scaling down.
Yep, they did… unfortunately some noobs that I will not name cough didn’t actually go through these lists until we had 7 gold runs The most memorable thing was itemising for proper hit cap at the start, before they normalised it. I remember running scarlet monastery hc 17 times for one ^@*#ing blue helmet that just wouldn’t drop, and a friend making fun of me because of it
These are the kind of experiences I won’t get again until summer sadly, tf saw to that. Now I just need a good roll and I’m set - no reason to chase that one elusive piece
(How are you supposed to quote within a quote on Discourse, anyway?)
Thank you!
One of the pieces of lazy thinking trotted out on these forums regularly is that any decline in anything is due to the “game being old”. Lazy, hazy, hand-wavy refusal to look. Simple boredom would result in a monotonically decreasing base, with perhaps some small punctuation at expansion boundaries. That threadbare deflection is clearly inconsistent with the patterns we see. The same number of people turn up every expansion, hoping to find what they remember. When the game doesn’t deliver it, they drift away.
Something, or more likely some combination of things, changed in late Wrath/early Cata, and the patterns of the subscribers changed with it.
I’m playing as holy and the cap for the haste in this expansion is not rly that important for us, naturally you want for mythic + healing to have a good balance between haste and the crit , and for the raid healing the mastery is our most important secondary stat.
We’ll see come summer how well the “old game” excuse works. A lot of things changed in wrath and frankly it was the first time the game stopped growing. The excuse at the time was “well MMORPGs are a niche market, that’s about all the players we can get” (yes, there were people posting that in the forum. no, I’m not joking).
It was a combination of things that pretty much peaked with patch 3.3 and killed the server communities, the glue that held the game together. I’ve said this before the real content in an MMO is other players. Dungeons, raids, quests, gear, rare mounts, professions… all these were things to get you to interact with other people. That’s what changed with wrath onwards
OK GUYS!
Since people are still defending the titantforge system and sayin its GOOD…
Its not a good system, it might be balanced across all ilvls but it is not a good solution in terms of progress…
Titanforge is nothing more than a power up on your gear, thus power up on your character, which is good. BUT you cannot influence which item is going to forge and this is str8 up frustrating.
For every class and even specc every item has a different value, if i get an item of low value and high ilvl, it feels like a wasted upgrade, which is bad game design, you shouldnt feel bad for getting a bad upgrade, how are you still not getting it???
Well maybe if you dont care what item you get, as long as it has better ilvl and actually lowers the performance of your character, then you should not be involved in the titanforge discussion at all, since you dont care and only aruge for the the reason of arguing…
Being able to control where the extra powerupgrade is going in IS A GOOD SYSTEM, you are not getting rid of the rng with that, since the gear still drops randomly, but that is all the randomness the game needs, not more than that… yet we have 4 or more layers of rng on gear which is ridiculous. you have little but no control on your characters progression at all which is just frustrating…
I just don’t care about my dps in that way. If I feel I can comfortably do the content I enjoy, then it’s fine. If it’s a higher ilvl, I will most likely equip it and not worry about any min maxing. I don’t need to justify my character’s performance to anyone, so yeah.
In regards to content I like and me not doing any min-maxing, yeah I’m a casual.
Im with you on that, Tahra - play the game how you want to
And you don’t NEED it either! So, why is it a problem if it’s removed from the game? It’s not something you NEED, it’s something you feel you’re ENTITLED to get, and it isn’t. You don’t NEED anything higher than the content you are running, it’s as simple as that. But, as said before, you’re just delusional.
You keep saying that we “want you to play it our way” but you are literally saying that the way we play it is “wrong”. This is YOU saying that we don’t play the game right. You are one of the worst hypocrites I’ve EVER seen on these forums, and yet you’re blinded and delusional because of it!
and thats perfectly fine with anyone, nobody ever said anything against that, yet people still defend the titanfroging system as if it was made by jezus and is the way to be and only cause its fine to them, they cling to it and defend its as if anyone wanted to take away their first born… nothing is going anywhere that way…
Your opinion is valid just like its of the people which want for the titanforging system to stay in the game. The fact that titanforging system exist doesn’t prevent you in any way to experience the content you want and to progress in it. And as I stated before in this thread there are a lot of things which are currently wrong with the gearing in the game in my opinion and which should be resolved before the Blizzard start doing anything with this one. And with the current game design we would have RNG in the gearing even without it.
Because people like him need to feel good about wasting the best years of their life?
I disagree. It didn’t work well.
It was an elitist way of gearing. It’s good that Blizzard is no longer catering solely to raiders. This game has so much more (and better) to offer than standing in a room beating on some gigant guy with a big group.
It worked when it came to some of the “better” days of WoW. Classic, TBC and WoTLK are 3 of the HIGHEST liked expansions, and these never had WF/TF or welfare game in. So, that pretty much tells me it worked perfectly fine.
No, they now have fobbed raiders off and started on the casuals instead, because the casuals have done nothing but complain about things they never could earn. And that’s why you’re happy and you like it, because you now get the things you think you’re entitled too, and don’t care how it’s actually affecting the game.
Ironically enough “standing in a room beating on some giant guy with a big group” was the last saving grace of WoD, The raids in WoD were really good with some of the better fights in wow history. Without that WoD might have been an even bigger disaster.

WoD was better than TBC. True story.
