I have seen many post that Dragonflight is overwhelming for casuals at times and i felt that for the first week or two for sure so here is a check list to work through / reminder list.
Everything here is OPTIONAL!!! - many lead to gear upgrades. Please add more if i missed anything. I’ll say it a lot. There are already amazing online guides to most of this. Hit up google / wowhead / any wow site for more details.
Level to 70!
Can stick to mostly main quest stories but side quests get you more early renown. 68 unlocks world quests / adventure mode for alts! Set hearthstone in Valdrakken - the capital city.
Dungeons
Speaks for itself. Normal are face roll. Not fast but consistent gearing in the 349 range.
Heroic need a item level of 342 which is lower than normal drops (WQs, crafting etc…more to come) Group finder is the best method if you don’t want much social interaction.
Casuals can push M+ but if you haven’t done much M+ then stick with 2+ / 3+ until comfortable, Boss abilities hurt and players will expect you to know how not to stand in the fire. M+, even at 2+ gives good 383 gear in the weekly vault.
Dragon Riding
Definitely spend the time to get all the glyphs and upgrades - its so worth it at 70 or before even. Once unlocked these apply to all alts. Loads of guides on wowhead / google.
Weekly activities
There is now a general set of run at least once a week activities. This is the main list will cover details below.
• Pickup the weekly quest to earn 3000 renown in the centre of Valdrakken.
• Pick up the dungeon quests in Valdrakken (2 quests a week, random dungeon any difficulty), google NPC called:
• Pickup a quest for Storms (storm Sigil) and do your 4 elemental invasions - more on this below.
• Run the Dragonbane Keep invasion.
• Complete a Hunt.
• Run a M+ if you are ready/comfortable
• Kill the weekly world boss (will see a purple world quest)
• LFR - run the new raid if you are ready / comfortable. You need a 359 item level to get in which can take a little longer in the casual world.
• Choose Wrathion/Sebellion in t he black dragon keep and compete the key quest. Will cover more later.
• Generate a titan matrix. (if you have a crating profession or want to try get a crafting order completed.
• Making soup at Tuskarr camp. Stand by the big bowl and press action key when asked.
Daily / rotational activates
• World quests - Not daily but rotate frequently enough. You do these for either gear or renown
• Dragon races - If you haven’t earnt gold or advanced during levelling. No reward but can be fun. Renown with Valdrakken opens up racing world quests!
• Any other new quests opened with renown levels such a s rock climbing etc.
• Its worth noting that the keys, hunts and the Dragonbane invasion can be run more than once but offer lesser rewards.
Renown
You may have seen lots of players grind this out. The casual goal is to try and work towards 12 with each of the main 4 over time so you can unlock campaign story. Pick you favourite and work towards it via WQ’s and hand in.
Each faction has rep tokens essentially which you can hand in. The camps for each faction are located on your map and tell you if you have tokens to hand in. NPC isnt always clear. Again Google / wowhead if not sure.
Wrathion / Sebellion - keys
Over in the waking shore you get a quest to chose a black dragon which opens up weekly quests and a main quest to grind out 2 materials. Each dragon has its own renown track. You will need a group for this. It is an elite area. The group finder still currently has plenty of groups but i suspect this will die off in the next few months as most of the player base hits max renown.
Elemental storms
On the map you will see storm icons like the prepatch event. Rather than dedicated storm mobs these storms just upgrade mobs. Each mob drops a small amount of Elemental Overflow. These can be traded for 359 gear in Valdrakken. Usually between 200 to 500ish
There are 4 types still (fire, water etc) each one drops a random quest item which grants Storm sigils - there are also weekly quests around these. Getting 4-7 of these allows you to upgrade you Elemental Overflow 359 gear to 389! Again check wowhead for guides, they are better than anything i can write.
Cobalt Assembly
In Azure span is an area, sometimes with a world quest is an area to grind out elite mobs for another rep. These offer upgrades too but this is a grind and groups are already few and far between unless directly tied to WQ or event.
Professions/ work orders.
Oh man. That’s probably a whole other post. Maybe someone can cover that?
