You mean like the gap between Smourne abusing warriors and DKs and everything else right now?
AHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
This pretty much tells us everything.
Smourne is OP, but nowhere close to how OP certain classes in general become in Cata.
In WoTLK they should have capped gear and made PVE gear available from just playing arena.
In Cata, they would have to heavily nerf things like Rogue and RSham.
Thats not even remotely true. I’ll take cata balancing any day over wotlk balancing which had rmp and warrior/dk/hpal dominate for the whole expansion.
I think fundamentally warrior main character syndrome andies are just sad that in cata their class is not tied for #1 in pvp and pve for once. Just remember the salt when it turned out that warrior was not automatic #1 dps in icc.
Nope, other classes are much better for most of the xpac. Just rarer. Even with Smourne spellcleaves are better than Shmourne Warr.
It’s why in Warmane tournaments Hunter comps and caster cleaves won. Warr doesn’t survive them.
It also doesn’t change the fact that RLS/Mages and Jungle are completely broken on Cata. Other classes can’t even compete.
Can you even deny that the state of RSham on Cata is probably one of the most inbalanced things from any xpac that has existed?
Who was this aimed at and what does it even mean?
It means that after warriors fronting since 2019 i’m really looking forward to an expansion where they’re mid at best and will remain mid throughout.
I’m looking forward to it.
So, why are you even here disputing what I say, when my main point is disproving the claim that ‘more classes are competitive in Cata’, when you agree that RSham’s state proves that they aren’t?
You’re at war with a mindset of other players you have just made up.
Subjectively, as a non top pvper, it felt like only warr/dk/hpal was viable all expansion in pvp. What comes after this can only be better.
I dont care about tournaments and high rated play, they don’t affect me and don’t interest me. I’m looking forward to the meta being shaken up a bit and to not see as many warriors anymore.
And in general, I don’t think PvP is a large enough part of the game to really merit seperate discussion like that anyways. It’s fine.
Lots of things was viable, and lots of things hard countered those classes until Smourn, and continued to in 3’s.
The difference between Cata and Wrath is that even if you think certain classes are strong, other classes and specs are completely viable and fun. E.g. Prot Pala/RSham being R1 viable for the entire xpac. Feral/x being r1 viable, etc, both of which hard countered Warr/DK comps.
In cata that variation doesn’t exist. The same things dominate 2’s as they did in 3’s. And more classes aren’t viable or fun to play, due to bad design. Most classes are still built around sustained damage, while the OP ones become about stupid burst or being so tanky it’s broken.
The meta was in your head. Warr wasn’t OP (IN 2’s) until ICC hc + Smourne. In 3’s caster and ranged cleaves still destroy them.
What?
Wanting one healer to be the only viable one isn’t a good meta shift, it’s just even less diversity of classes/specs that work. Welcome to Cata.
Except 2s is a joke bracket and noone should pay any attention to that atleast since cata so 2s meta doesnt really matter. I would argue every class in 3s has their strong spec which can do very well in 3s. Imo yes less specs are not viable (such as tank specs) when it comes to these specs that youre supposed to play as each class theyre more equal. In addition to that you can combine these strong specs together and it usually works while in wrath you had like 4 setups that were played.
Completely untrue. It’s the opposite.
OP said “more things are competetive”, which is what I’m disputing and which is objectively untrue. PWarr, PPal, Preg Pal, Arms, Enh, Destro, Ele and other than RMP, any healer other than RSHam stop being competetive.
As mentioned earlier, RLS, Mage and Jungle are so OP, anything else gets destroyed or is unplayable vs them.
RSham is the most broken healer probably in any expansion ever.
I mean i agree more specs are viable in wrath however my point was different. I disagree with statement rls, jungle and only mages are viable since i believe more setups are viable even tho less specs are viable. For example i think dk rogue was played, triple dps, dk feral, kitty, kfc. Like there are less specs but more possible combinations. Ofc it depends on patch etc. In og wrath stuff like rls, wld was popular i guess however Its not played in classic wrath. Luckily cata is not as found out as wrath (some private server people put kitty cleave into s tier btw) so what was popular back in days might not work that well now. I Guess we can expect thug, rls, rmp, phdk, jungle, triple dps, vang with rise of boomkins in later seasons. However stuff such as resto druid seem really underrated to me since i dont think anyone is able to play it to its full potential except 1 person (try comparing how 2 highest resto druids in 2s on classic wrath play for example, theres insane gap between them imo). Also private server people say hpaly is very good (i Guess its supposed to be good against triple dps, phdk, thug or something). Anyway game is going to feel different from what private servers offer i Guess we’ll see.
As far as I know what “changes” we know of Cataclysm so far is;
No pre-nerf dungeons, but they’re adding titan forged nonsense.
Last patch talents obviously, cause the stale as hell meta throughout the expansion has been great for TBC/WotLK.
The OP is just a bunch of subjective feelscraft anyway, and claiming that we’re “back in Azeroth” when it’s not even the same cities feels a little shallow (not to mention the new races being a positive, wee human v 2).
i can’t wait on cata ‘classic’ launch day to see actual freight train like lines of botters running about
