Cata is exciting

  • Wrath+ with actual hard 5 man content
  • Revamped, hard classic dungeons in heroic
  • Fun dungeons that isn’t the same pallid undead theme like wotlk
  • Fun 80-85 content (unlike Northrend)
  • Endgame content is based in Azeroth and is familiar i.e not alien/frigid
  • Endgame hub is back in ‘Azeroth’ i.e not Shattrath/Dalaran
  • Faction tabards (stormwind, undercity etc)
  • Transmog and reasons to farm old raids
  • Meh specs are now more competitive, especially in pvp
  • Better talent trees (likely they will remove 31 talent point hybrid restriction as well)
  • They have a good opportunity to fix previous mistakes and bring down OP classes in PvP back to par with most other classes (sub and mm) and plenty of experience from tbc and wotlk fails
  • Goblins and Worgen
  • Best Battlegrounds in the game; Battle for Gilneas and Twin Peaks
  • Rated battlegrounds
  • Tolbarad
  • Reforging for additional character tweaking
  • additional, epic ingame music in old zones (Song of Elune bis)
  • Overhauled world that is a nice change from the vanilla we experienced for 4 years (some of us have played vanilla-wotlk years prior to actual classic and welcome this change).
  • No need to complete every single zone to get to 80. Some zones are actually nice to visit now i.e desolace
  • a bunch of other stuff

Can agree with everything but one of your points… battle for gilneas is a horrible battleground.

its great for small skirmishes outside of the flags
yes im unashamedly that player that doesn’t care about the flags

You cant remove the restriction. Talents from row 4+ are extremely powerful. Hybrid specs would be meta in almost every single class, killing at least 2 specs from each class.

No 2 Blood DK Arena meta its going to be nice. No Vengeance in PvP from the start.

I really hope they buff some underperforming specs like destrolocks. Iirc moonkins were bad in PvE aswell but destro were just bad in everything.

If they release based on the last cata patch, would dungeons not be nerfed?

ngl this is one of the best parts what im looking for, kinda fed up with all the melee dominated pvp scene.
pvp notes saying that there are no more 50% (or 75%) heal reductions, gets me even more excited for cata.

only talents are based on 4.3.4 though

Wrath is already pretty bad, though.

I give people 3 weeks to get bored and ask for free stuff. How fun…

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

Ooooooh, mogs, mounts, cheevos, the reason everyone hates retail. Well, one of the reasons at least.

Meh specs are still meh because people only want to play the meta 0,1% better than average spec.

They’re not better. I’ll bet my bank alt’s Ornate Drinking Stein that they won’t touch any of the restrictions.

That’s not related to Cataclysm. Also, it won’t happen because Blizzard has no business in making it happen. At best you will get OP buffs to dev-favourite specs just like in Wrath Classic.

Goblins should’ve been in vanilla instead of Forsaken, Worgen should’ve never been playable. You will praise Vulpera next.

More like “Ruined world that is a downgrade from vanilla in every aspect”.

Need to complete every single zone was only a thing on bugged private servers 15 years ago where 2/3rds of quests did not work. In Wrath Classic you can hit 80 in Dragonblight. Also, reworked zones are boring and forgettable - I only remember Garrosh dropping a dude from a cliff (I don’t know where did this cliff come from, it wasn’t there before Cataclysm) and a crapton of phasing causing you to never meet another player.

Such as… uhhhhhh… and… ummmmmmm… yeah.

Damn, I guess I got baited.

I dont know about anyone who hates retail cos it has more collecting for collectors?

Except theres a huge difference compared to wrath - some setups such as lsp/thc are not miles ahead of others setups imo (even tho i believe rls doesnt have bad matchups), game is slower and in slower meta better players usually win (atleast in S9) and since not many people play cata and if they do there are few decent players, there is no set meta (i Guess thug is strong tho) which means you can play whatever you want and probably do well if youre good enough.

Hopefully cos that would probably break balance.

Why tho? Personally i like worgens (i think theyre also very good in pve). I enjoyed their start location. Also whats wrong with vulperas? You hate fluffy races or what.
How can you hate worgens who are very popular fantasy creatures overall and it makes sense they exist when there are space octopuses who came to Azeroth in spaceship?

Could you explain forgettable? Personally i hate old zones, idc about lore, leveling is only suffering So i can’t say pre cata leveling experience would be any better than cata. On contrary cata leveling fits me more so i dont understand the argument.

Well you dont meet any players even now and even in wrath theres phasing that makes you unable to see different players. Yet i dont see you crying about it.

I mean Its fine that you hate cata however you should stick to stuff you can pretend to understand. Commenting on pvp while having no clue about it is not the move as it only degrades the point you’re trying to make.

Huh?

Less specs are viable in Cata than WoTLK. Especially Tanks.

  • Warrior has no top10 viable specs
  • No Tank specs work at all
  • Enh is rubbish
  • Disc ooms while RSham is just AFK. Melees become unhealable for it
  • RDruid kinda sucks for the entire expansion
  • Hpala kinda sucks for the entire thing, and gets solo’d later on

2’s especially becomes awful.

Of those that are viable, there reaches a point, in balance, where Rogue/Lock/Mage or Jungle is just better than everything, to the point where there’s no point in playing anything else.

RSham becomes the most disgusting healer in probably any expansion ever? There was probs one where Rdruid was just broken. Also letting RSham Tremor while Feared was a special kind of design choice.

Pretty sure the last Cata ATR tournament was won by RSham/Fire Mage/Frost Mage. :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Thank god for that, tanks in PVP are so lame.

i finished grinding my dungeon 2 for completion yesterday.
you want to know how many players did i met on that adventure? (its a long quest chain with lots of travelling, on a relatively big realm)
4
… and 3 of those were bots.

maybe its not the phasing which makes the game looks dead?
maybe its the fact that you have zero motivation to go anywhere from dalaran at any point of the day, because the casual player cant even compete with all the bots farming out there?

you are trying to defend the old zones, when they are just as empty as every tbc/wrath zone.

If there would be cata just make it separate it’s not classic, if someone wants to play on cata, why not but don’t take Woltk from us.

Nah, Prot Pal and Prot Warr are really fun and both have really unique playstyles on Wrath.

i mean, i doubt anybody can take you seriously after saying that pvp tanks being bad in pvp, the most collectively despised thing to plague wow, is a bad thing. any way if you get off on playing something with 0 counter, 0 skill, 0 involvement then blood dk tank might appeal to you…

I was talking about arena.

Prot Warr is one of the hardest melees in WoTLK, and isn’t close to as good as a lot of other melees.

Prot Pala is just fun and isn’t close to as good as other melees.

I don’t think anyone can take you seriously, due to you ignoring the rest of my points about other classes directly addressing your untrue claim that more specs are competitive, when objectively less are viable.

You have 0 reading comprehension. My arguments are about things in Cata being less balanced and having less viable things, and I also point out which classes are OP. How does it follow that I would want to play something OP with no counter? Undead brain irl.

I am excited for Cata, one of my biggest look forward to changes are the fact that more DoTs will natively scale with haste. Classes like Shadow Priest’s Shadow Word: Pain unfortunately doesn’t scale with haste in Wrath.

Another positive thing is the improvement and simplification of talent trees where for example Warlocks don’t compensate on Casting range talent points to have spec for max damage. Hate the hell outta that in Wrath as Warlock.

Unsure what you mean about top 10, but arms isnt bad in cata. They got several viable comps. WLS/kitty/KFC/(cant remember if tsg was a thing)

But ele/resto is good. You cant expect to have every specc from every class viable in arena. Thats a balancing nightmare (not that blizzard balances in pvp anyway)

Always has been, its a reason why blizzard stopped giving out titles from it. Its called “cap-bracket” for a reason.

His statement was:

My arguments was against that. Idc about how serious 2’s is taken. In WoTLK, even if things didn’t work in 3’s, they still had 2’s comps that worked to competitive ratings and was fun. In Cata the things that are good in 3’s are even better in 2’s.

Also Warr barely competes in 3’s at all, even if there is some comps it can do ok in. You’re not likely to get anywhere close to a decent title. That’s an entire class that’s not competitive.

The classes I mentioned in the first post become the only ones worth playing if you want to compete on the ladder. The gap between what’s OP and what’s not becomes too big in Cata.

I have mixed interest for Cataclysm. There are a loot of things that I liked about it:
The raids (even dragon soul) some new quest story (stonetalon and Feralas) Rated bg (I prefer bg’s to arenas.

But there also minor ones that I really disliked that makes enjoy the content above harder. Like the limited amount of combat res in a boss fight (1 for 10 man and 3 to 25).

I do hope the design team will add more impactful changes like bringing flex earlier or at least for Normal mode raid (that world make raiding more enjoyabe for me)
