For those who played back in the day. What will happen in Cata prepatch?
First there’ll be a Gnomeregan/Troll event where we liberate their homelands. Then it’ll be a series of micro dungeon bosses and elementals attacking cities.
Basically nothing interesting. The days of interesting pre-events ended when people cried about the zombie invasion of WoTLK.
Has Cata already been confirmed?
Not officially but there’s a cataclysm blizzcon shirt they just put on the store and a survey they sent out like a year ago asking if people would play and what changes would help.
Originally the patch came with account-wide mounts and companion pets but we already have that.
Do we already have account-wide achievements? (didn’t even care to check that) That also came with the original patch.
We’ll get flying in Azeroth, all of Azeroth has been redone, that’s including the quests.
We’ll get Archaeology, it’ll bring a few nice mounts(skeletal raptor and ultra marine battle tank) and companion pets but not a whole lot.
It’ll remove the talent trees the way we have it, what we’ll get back is a much more simplified talents uuuuh thing.
You can’t do the AQ40 q-line anymore for the gong and lots of other quests.
The new quests in Azeroth also brings a change in the loremaster of Azeroth achievements. Now it’s only loremaster of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms seperated so it’s a real puzzle of which q’s you did and didn’t, in cata pre-patch you’ll get them per area.
The Barrens gets split up into the Northern Barrens and Southern Barrens, same for STV. Thousand Needles will be flooded. Southshore will be dead and turned into a plagued area with BE demonhunters around it. Parts of Stormwind will be ruined as Deathwing will pay some more attention to that city. Orgrimmar will be totally changed.
Dungeons will have their related quests available for pickup inside the dung at the start.
The Alliance invaded the Southern Barrens and they kept their presence.
As Deathwing got out of his prison, he’ll be flying all over Azeroth putting whole areas to fire and if you get caught in that apart from maybe dying, you’ll get an achievement for getting burned by him.
The patch was rather significant with loads of changes and if you think what i wrote is a lot, i’m quite sure ppl can add another list to it.
That was in the MOP prepatch.
At least we’re not getting the MOP version of “talents”. What we get in Cata is a much more compact version of the current talents.
People got so excited to experience the WOTLK event again, and then immediately complained non-stop within an hour of it being live.
For cata I remember some earthquakes, some cultists in cities giving speeches about the end of the world, you do some quests, bla bla, fight some angry elementals and that’s about it. It was a good pre-expansion event, but it wasn’t impactful like the WOTLK pre-event.
The world will be destroyed and replaced by a more railroaded, artificial version with many, MANY more pop culture references.
MoP talents actually gave situational flexibility. Prove me wrong cookie cutter builds fans.
That was cut short in Classic Wrath prepatch without even ramping up, like original did.
Nope, that was MoP.
We don’t yet, oddly, that was also MoP.
Sorta, MoP had the simplified one. Cata had it where you select a spec and have to put in x amount of points in order to put points in the other trees.
Rest I -think- is accurate.
As for the talent tree debate, dragonflight has the best version of talents in wow. Kinda trounces the classic/Cata/MoP-SL era.
You wont need a druid to kill Anzu anymore
Best change ever.
Oh and if we’re listing all changes. I imagine the 4.3 exp nerf to WotLK will also make it in during the pre patch. So levelling will be faster.
In an ideal world the pre patch will also include transmog, reforging and void storage. Praying Blizzard don’t delay ANY of those. I really REALLY need to clear my bank out. I’ve been preparing for transmog since Classic. Ideally the retail transmog system so I don’t need to keep most of these items around once I get the appearance in the catalogue!
MoP talents were discontinued in retail after years of Blizzard saying the same garbage as you. Turns out, they really were uninteresting after all.
So how is your build variety in Dragonflight doing? Are you changing builds on the fly, respeccing thousands of passive talents?
It was clearly brought to WoW to grow familiarity with such system, used in Diablo IV, just as Legion used many spells, and features from their other games to cross promote everyone to try WoW. At least Legion artifact weapon tree was more of progression path you could completely unlock later on.
Why would I even want to? Changing things on the fly is what glyphs were supposed to be for.
This is exactly his point. If you never swap all these passive talents maybe aswell just keep the mop version where you actually change stuff?
Why would I want to change stuff every fight? I repeat; that’s what gylphs are for.
