Cataclysm: Classic - Please do not introduce LFR

With the announcement of Cataclysm: Classic

Classic dev team has a change to correct one of the dumbest mistakes ever introduced to WoW. And that is Looking For Raid (LFR) and let me explain why:

  1. You can distribute the LFR Gear in to the Protocol dungeons
  2. Cata normal raids are already easy and with LFG tool its easy to sing up
  3. People are way better at the game as they were back then (not to mention addons)

So the sum this up with current state of playerbase and the fact that we are going with #changes path, there is no need for LFR at all going foward with classic ( With MoP introducing mythic raiding, its already split to 3 difficulties anyway).

LFR was in cata and it should be in P1 of cata “just as it was back then”. kek.

Do you have to use LFR? Do you not have the option of playing with a guild or making your own group? I honestly don’t see the problem. If you don’t like the feature, don’t use it.

Why do you dislike lfr so much? The loot is trash, and you dont really need to do it?? Cant really see why its bothering you?

As expected, the Retail Feature Defense Team has already struck this thread (not Nikky, though, he’s just joking).

Why would you care about lfr in cata, it wont be there for t11 and firelands. T13 is awful with or without lfr.

Would you care to explain why it’s so bad?

So that you can say “that’s only your opinion and my opinion is better”? Why would I do that?

I’ve never played with LFR, so maybe I’m missing something here, but I can’t really see how it matters? Easy raid with worse loot for people who cba to organize, how does that negatively impact your experience if you don’t actively choose to do that content?

What do you mean ? Lfr was put into game in DS and so IT shoudl be in classic cata.

You will have alpha-gamma dungeons to skip it completly just like you have them in wolk classic.

The purpose of the LFR was to give small guilds an oportunity to raid without being enough people to do 25 man content, so they would queue in LFR and then other people looking to raid would group up with them to do the content.

In paper the system was ok and it’s not at all a bad idea.

The problem and why it was bad (And It is bad in retail since, or atleast until BfA, last expansion I played). The 25 group would have no leader at all, and if they have some kind of Raid Lead, the majority of people using the tool only wanted to semi-afk the boss thanks to the reduced dificulty. So since the week 1 of the tool LFR was just 25 people whitout any guide, leadership, and even trying to die to easy mechanics only to stay dead during the fight and then collect the loot.

And loot was the big problem 2, without gammas or HC+ back in the day, the best gear before raid were in the LFR, and because the bonus of the tiers were REALLY good for every single class, everyone had to use LFR and try to get the 4 bonus piece as soon as possible.

TLDR: The Cata LFR created a tool that everyone had to use and it was so braindead that you could afk and almost never die. It was good on paper, but bad in practice and never achieved what its purpose was originally, give small guilds some form of raiding.

With a Gamma hc+ system, the LFR loot could be in a vendor or dropping from the final boss in those Hc+++, no need for LFR

In MoP Blizz created “flexible raids” again for the same reason, but this time had much more popularity.

Yeah, but people have been complaining for 3 phases of WotLK that RDF should be in from the start “because it was added in Wrath”. That’s what he was laughing at.

That basically sounds like your average trade chat pug at the moment.

Alright, I can see how this might be a problem. A solution to that problem would be to have an organized pug doing it instead of a raid full of complete randoms.
