Trying to create a shaman mog and looking at the boot options i found some that i really liked. When hovering the icon in the appearance tab it presented 2 names. The first was basalt brood stompers and the second was treads of the awakened. After a bit of research i found that the first option was a drop from the world boss bazual for mail users (shaman/hunter/evoker) while the second option was the evoker raid gear, and more specifically the normal version.
Since farming a rotating world boss once per month for a chance at the boots didn’t seem as a viable option, i leveled an evoker to level 70 got myself an item of level 493 and used the catalyst to get the normal raid version and unlock the appearance. To my surprise when i loged in my shaman to transmog it it wasn’t available and in the appearance tab it said this item can’t be used by your class, something it didn’t say before. To make it perfectly clear, i did get the correct version of the item so i found it really odd. When checking the adventure guide for bazual on the list of drops for SHAMAN it had the boots and it also said ‘’ You have collected this appearance, but not from this item’'. I have many other items that say this as well but i can transmog them just fine, so this raises the following question. Is this a bug or just a weird transmog restriction.
If it’s the latter it makes zero sense, since it’s literally the same item and not something that was evoker only like the lfr, heroic or mythic versions of the boots that have different colors. I understand trying to keep class integrity visually by transmog restrictions but this is just foolish. Why would i have to farm a world boss once per month for only 1 chance per character (not to mention that these bosses seem to be bugged since i haven’t gotten a single loot drop on any on my alts as well) to unlock the appearance for my shaman when i have it on my evoker.
Sorry for the rant and the long post, if anyone can enlighten me if it’s a bug or not since i am kinda new to wow, it would be a great help. Thanks for reading!
