Catalyst - stats

Hello guys,

Are the stats changed when I use the Catalyst (like haste, mastery etc)? I remember that in previous expansions and seasons, the stats used to change as well, so the high haste gear suddenly became high crit strike. Now, though, it looks to me like the stats are preserved from the original gear (haven’t used it yet, so can’t verify). Thanks.

12.1 changed it.
Tier from catalyst now keep the stats of the original piece.

A good change tbh. Makes it easier to not get lumped with useless stats or past drs

Agreed .,.’

I disagree.
I’d much rather have the stats I’m designed to and gem enchant around them.

Yes and this allows you to do that?

And you can choose the stats you are meant to have instead of being stuck with a tier piece that has awful stats for your spec.

I prefer to use what the devs give me for my class. Who am I to decide I know better than the people that design my class?

Devs themselves admit pro player know the classes better then them. If that was the case simming wouldnt need to exist and theres plenty reason youd want different stats on tier. Like how many times has tier had like vers or something uselss to your class and your stuck with it

I’m not claiming to be a pro player and I have zero interest in that mindset.
I just raid with my guild have fun.

Then you can just collect the tier tokens. The Devs don’t make the stats on tier optimal. But we have the choice to make them optimal if we so wish.

That’s what I’m doing. As I clearly stated it’s my preference, It is entirely my choice to not min/max my gameplay and just have fun.

Yes you will have to avoid the catalyst completely to do that.

Na T-mog is also a thing

I would never accuse you of being good never mind pro

Hey I were confused of this start of season aswell but it seems they made changes for season 2 and we retain the items stats now when converting it to tier.

For example I can buy haste or mastery version of gear with versatility and decide which of the two I would use for tier. It’s welcome change for tier sets. You can customise your character more now in season 2 it seems.

“In Patch 12.1, Catalyzed Class set armor now inherits the secondary stats and any cantrip effects from the original converted item.”

ONLY use the Catalyst for the LOOK; if you have the opportunity to Raid & get the Tier/Gear drops the way you’re used to, do so…

As a Legacy Raider, at best, I will rarely get the Tier items when they’re relevant.

Then your best bet is to just not care about the stats. Stick whatever in the catalyst.

There could be an easy solution for the stats.
When you would place an item to catalyst to give you the option to choose:

Option A: Maintain the stats the pre-catalyst item has on it.
Option B: Change the stats to the ones the set item originally.

Unfortunately that is not how my brain works.
An item has stats allocated, those are the stats of the item. Wearing something different itches my brain. I also did not partake in Reforging during MoP.
